A new werewolf figure

Post by Alpha »

It's new to me anyways. I'm not too crazy about the color scheme on the figure. But other than that, I think it's cool looking! The artwork on the package is awesome however. Unfortunately they're out of stock. Oh well... let the hunt begin.

While searching for more werewolf collectibles, I came across this: http://www.monstersinmotion.com/catalog ... s_id=12392

What are your opinions?

That's one of the most generic movie monsters I've ever seen, and it barely passes for a werewolf. I'm not sure what collector would pay $150 for a completely unremarkable maquette. Looks like something I'd see at an art school mid-period exam exhibit.

I like to see different styles of werewolves (even though I prefer the traditional "Howling style"), so I think these are cool.

What bothers me most, is the long tail on #2. It also strikes me that a lot of non-fandom artists try to emphasize the demonic sides in werewolves, whereas often real fans try to bring out a recognizable personality instead.

Werewolf # 1 (from Amazon) is tres' cliche. What is interesting is the second picture in the enlargement. Whatever it is sticking out of the box looks like a gigantic gray tongue. Yuchh.

Werewolf #2 is pretty generic. With the right paint and fur and such, he might look like King Kong, A Werewolf, or Yogi Bear. Some work needed...yeah. :P

Now all you need is an in-scale '56 Chevy Bel-Air to slide under the upraised arm.

I'm always finding the good stuff, yes? :grinp:

And I KNEW you was going to like that one. :D

I'd get it myself as well. But I already spent $300+ for my Dinnertime werewolf resin. I'm going to pass on this one. :(

The werewolf model is very detail. The painting and sculpting is done well, but the statue costs so much. I would get my hands on it, if the werewolf has a real wolf tail instead of a tail stub.

It probably would look a lot better with a full tail. But I'll just say he lost it in a fight or something.

The jaw tendons are kinda cool, but what's with the hooves and rat tail?

It's hard to tell from Fig's link how much of a tail the wolf has, but it's definitely one of the better werewolf depictions I've seen (any medium). He even has visible wolf eyes :o
Glowing eyes in a theme such as this typically depict an evil creature, with no pupils to see into/relate to.

Try clicking on the pics that says "Full body," "Front," "Back," and "Head" for a better view.

As for buying one. I changed my mind. He's asking to much for a fully assembled piece. Total cost is $475.00 OUCH!!

Well, it's probably a good thing that you didn't send him any money. I'd sent him the payment on the 9th, and I still don't have my kit. :(
I tried emailing him last night, but the message bounced. I emailed him a 2nd time at another e-addy on his website, and am still waiting for a response. If I don't hear anything by tomorrow, I'm going to open a dispute with paypal.

So, get it in pieces and assemble it. Cyanoacrylate is the glue of choice, and get both the thin and gel versions. Then paint it; it isn't that hard to paint a plastic or resin figurine; I've done several myself, using brushes, and managed to make a perfectly good model-figurine-statue-or whatever.

To have a professional look, its best to have a professional do it cause you have to do more than just "glue it together."

There's this special clay material you use to hide the lines between the pieces you glue together. If you don't know what you're doing, it won't look right when its comes time to paint.

If he wasn't charging so much, I'd get one done professionally like the other werewolf resin kit I have.

Gnolls aren't werehyenas. They're somewhat similar to werehyenas, though.
