That is so funny. Glad I missed it, too. XD Though, it is pretty creative that people would do that at a parade.

That is so epic.
I wish he could have done it while riding one of the balloons!

Re: Epic Win.
That's got to be the Rick Roll to end all Rick Rolls! They got the actual Rick Astley!
But, is he lip-syncing? The voice and the music sounds so much like the original song from the eighties, rather than a live performance.
Even so, it's got to be the biggest Rick Roll in history. And, it shows that Rick Astley is taking his viral comeback with humor and pride.

Re: Epic Win.
Hm. It's a fun irony to note that rickrolling was actually based off something called duckrolling. Even mentioning that I may have just given people ideas for a Pack meme, so I'll move away from that topic and segue into another.
I'm amazed that an Internet meme was actually popular enough for Cartoon Network to have put it to use, but that was fairly incredible and fun to watch. I love a good dose of generally wonder-filled absurdity, turning everyday life on its head and whatnot.
Wrapping up, I remember Nick Cave. That was a while ago though, back when I was into Iron Maiden and pretty much every form of British metal. Back when British metal was at its height and fairly interesting. I don't know if the World's ready for nickrolling, though ... but it would be wonderful.

Re: Epic Win.
*nods* Rick Astbury was a one-hit wonder from the 80s. It could very well be a huge thrill for him that his one claim to fame that could only be heard in supermarkets for the the last 10+ years is now a huge Internet sensation.Midnight wrote:One thing is that, going by the story current when he was actually on the charts, he wasn't planning on being a singer anyway... he was a tradesman working in the production team's office, they heard him singing to himself and thought they could market his voice. As it was he had one big hit and that was about it, but there isn't anything really all that wrong with the song... what makes Rickrolling so popular is that it's fun, it's surreal and it's not the sort of thing that people can really take offence at.
And yeah, part of what makes Rickrolling work is the fact that it is just a sort of goofy/nostalgia song; the opposite effect of the "screamers" fad, if you will. It's only aggravating in the sense that it's been overdone and deprived of originality.
