Happy New Year!
I know due to time zones this may be early/late for some of you, especially those in the United States.

Huzzah, let the peoples of the world rejoice and...um, eh bugger it all. That's all the good cheer you're getting out of me.

And a Happy New Year right back atcha!
I'm taking it easy tonight and staying home. My Bay Area best friend got me a small bottle of Drambuie for Christmas/birthday so I'll toast Janus with that in a few hours. Car keys are tucked firmly away and that's where they're staying.
So who else subscribes to the legend that if the New Year catches you without a dollar in your pocket, you'll be broke all year?

Woo! Somebody bust out coconut juice!
(Actually, New Year's is always surprisingly uneventful and mundane for me. Good thing I went to the library today; I'll have some reading material to keep me up until the witching hour.)
Vrik: I always went by the folk-lore that if you said "Rabbit" as the first word you uttered on the new day of the month, you'll have good luck that entire month. But that dollar one is a good idea....

Happy new year all!
"Religion and politics
Often make some people
Lose all perspective and
Give way to ranting and raving and
Carrying on like emotional children.
They either refuse to discuss it with reason,
Or else they prefer argumentum ad hominem,
Which is a hell of a way to conduct a discussion."

Hmmm...Does that mean that if you're drunk and silly at the witching hour, you'll be silly all year? (That does make some sense... )vrikasatma wrote:And a Happy New Year right back atcha!

Re: Happy New Year!
Ah, freak. My first New Year's in 6 years without roman candles....
We buy twelve [round] fruits and have twelve coins in our pockets, one fruit and coin for each month of next year, and we wear either red, polka-dots or both, giving luck. Then we jump a lot, shaking the coins to promise prosperity and growth.
Happy, happy New Year's to everybody!

I'm sorry to hear that, Fig. I wish there was something I could say, but I never know what to say in situations like this...
The death of family, especially if it was family one really cares about, can be really crushing. That much I know, at least. No one should ever have to go through it.

Friendship is a precious thing.... Until it is abused and you are rendered unloved. Few remain at my side, one of them is the most compassionate man I have ever met. I love you silver1, thank you for being at my side when i need you the most. I will try, if only for you.
