Your favorite werewolf or wolf-related songs

Post by Berserker »

I'm pretty surprised this thread doesn't exist here. Post the lyrics for your songs too, if you can.

I'll start with Moonspell - Wolfshade (Werewolf Masquerade) from their first album, Wolfheart.

She brought the night hidden in her sad wolf eyes
The perfume of twilight, her strongest scent
Half wolf, half female - what a strange wedding
Mother Nature has offered us to see...

Her mask lays lost in a fatal dawn
Closed were the eyes of the Sun. He sleeps.
And in the name of Her Father.
She will kill. My child kills.

Your nightly birth, a requiem God can't forget.
For your life is just a celebration of his death
Without his thorns in her heart, she wears a shadow as face.
A werewolf masquerade. In her eyes the wolfshade.

She brought the night, and by the night was brought
We are but children of the powers she had set free
Strange are the ways of the wolfhearted...

"Where the Wolf Bane Blooms" by The Nomads is my favorite.

Local H has an ace cover of "Wolf like Me."

I'm sure versions of this thread have been done many times. Still, we're due a refresh, since we not only have gotten a lot of new faces around here in the last year or two, but also many of us old-timers have discovered new music, and bands have recorded new material. So, here goes...

Favorite songs specifically and purposefully about werewolves, or probably so:
Moonspell: "Wolfshade" (previously mentioned), plus "Full Moon Madness," "Luna," and their untitled extra track on Memorial
Type O Negative: "Wolf Moon"
Danzig: "Killer Wolf," "Halloween III" (technically by the group "Samhain", but basically Glenn Danzig)
Metallica: "Of Wolf and Man" (a perennial favorite)
Ozzy Osbourne: "Bark at the Moon" (oddly enough, an under-recognized one)

Songs that might as well be about werewolves, because their lyrics imply shape shifting, being wolves, or running through the forest on all fours
Bauhaus: "Mask," "The Dog's a Vapour," "Adrenaline"
The Cult: "Wild Flower," "Wolf's Child Blues," and especially "Brother Wolf, Sister Moon"
Dio: "Lock Up the Wolves," "Shame on the Night," "Time to Burn," "Night People," "Naked in the Rain," "Night Music"
The Cure: "A Forest," "Other Voices," "Shake Dog Shake," "Screw," "The Kiss" (though we'll have to pry this one out of
the vampires' cold, dead hands)
The Glove: "Like an Animal"
Nine Inch Nails: "With Teeth"
Siouxsie and the Banshees: "Night Shift," "Spellbound"
The Sisters of Mercy: "This Corrosion"
Whitesnake: "Bad Boys," "Still of the Night" (eighties metal with a killer violin bow on guitar solo, that sounds particularly lupine)
Scorpions: "The Zoo," "Animal Magnetism"

Good example of a song that doesn't say "werewolf" but sure emplies the heck out of them: "Other Voices" by The Cure:

whisper your name in an empty room
you brush past my skin
as soft as fur
taking hold
i taste your scent
distant noises
other voices...

I also tend to like music that has more of a howling chord quality, rather than the choppy, poink-boink-bink sound that is so prevalent in a lot of pop music, which sounds so monkey-like by comparison. Think about your favorite haunting melodies and atmospheric music--whatever music drives you to tears. Too many other songs to list by some of the artists above do that, and have vague hints about "turning my skin around" or "
Taking a Gestalt approach, since it's the "in" thing...

Behold, the perfect werewolf movie soundtrack

Bad moon rising - CCR (opening theme)

Hound dog - Elvis (the first transformation)

Fire like this (intro only) - hardknox (subsequent transformations)

The running free - Cohhed and Cambria

Hungry like the wolf - Duran Duran

and if there's any sort of romantic subplot;

Moonshadow - Cat Stevens/Yussuf Islam (good luck actuallygetting it, Cat hates werewolves  )

Moondance - van Morrison

And finally....

Blue Moon - Diane Shaw (best rendition ever) to play over the ending credits.

Sorry to bring this topic back up (though it's still on the first page), but I'm shocked that no one has heard of TV on the Radio's hit "Wolf Like Me." It sounds nothing like I would want a werewolf song to sound (not creepy, eerie, or suspenseful - it's more playful and energetic than anything), but the lyrics make up for it.

Haha, I also just found out about the video (go watch it on YouTube here!). The werewolves are pretty lame if you ask me, but I like the "silent film" take on it! And the lyrics can be found here. :)

Sorry if I shouldn't be bumping up such and old topic, if I'm not really supposed to do this, I'll completely understand if my post needs to be deleted or anything, ^^". Just new here, had to make sure, XD.

Anyways, for the past few months now actually, I've been really addicted to these two werewolf songs by a band called Timeless Miracle:

The Curse Of The Werewolf
The Return Of The Werewolf

The first one is my absolute favorite of the two, but the second one is great too. The first one is more about the moments before the transformation, and the second song is a little more silly, since it's largely about Little Red Riding Hood it seems, ^_^".

Another werewolf song I listen to quite a bit but not as much as the two above is called: Werewolf of Westeria by John 5. It's a big 7 minute song of chaotic guitar soloing to really show that rampaging attitude of a werewolf hwlwnk.

Werewolf of Westeria

I'm not just a metal kind of guy, but I tend to like my werewolf music fast metal or rock it seems, XD.

I like that song too. But are you sure it's a werewolf/wolf based song? I check out the music video it seems like some-what a werewolf theme if you look very, very close (at their eyes it shows up once a while). Any way check it out i might missed something..... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DE2e2Gf8NAk

I like Black Claw's choices, I personally think 'Devour' by Shinedown is good, kinda meshes with the evil/goth werewolf portfolio. Don't have any songs for other Werewolf portfolio's.
