Halloween werewolf story: What do you want to read?
Halloween werewolf story: What do you want to read?
Ok normally I would put this in the creative writing forum, but I need a wider audience.
I want to write a (scary?) werewolf story, for Halloween, for The Pack. (Maybe takyoji can slap it up on the site if the site is done by Halloween, hint hint.) The problem is... as I'm sure you all realize... what's left to do for scary Halloweeny werewolf stories?
Do you guys like traditional tropes, or something unique?
What do you guys want to see in a creepy, horrorific werewolf story for Halloween? You decide what I should write!

Genre hybridization! How about five werewolves wake up, extremely hungry, and stuck an a cube? Or five werewolves must sleep in a house overnight for a monetary reward?
Tongue-in-cheek aside, everyone has different tastes. For me, I would ideally like a modern avant garde novel that shifts between realist and surrealist (like kafka) with heavy gothic horror elements.

How about a story where the protagonists are a pack of werewolves, who live peacefully and anonymously in an isolated mountain town. Then one night, bodies begin turning up around town, torn to pieces -- as if by a werewolf.
Re: Halloween werewolf story: What do you want to read?
I have to agree with Uniform Two Six. It should be a story about a pack of ww in a moutain peacefully until mysteriously the townspeople are being torn to pieces all of a sudden. that would be a good story to write for the Pack.

I'm going to half agree with UTS. The only things that haven't been done with werewolves yet would be things from the werewolf's perspective, though I wouldn't go as far as to make them peaceful and communal.
The best horrors I've read / watched have usually been ones that got inside the audience's head and deliberately pissed all over their senses of security and/or morality. If you're going to make your werewolf a peaceful idealist, at least make it so that he only starts off as one and the downgrades into more of a cynic once he gets used to being a werewolf.

Go for something original at least. There's no sense in creating something that has been done a million times before.

Lets all thank Fyriewolf for bumping it.Lycanthrope wrote:I don't want to spoil anything but Berserker's post is from last year...
Really though, people should consider making rules for bumping old threads on this forum because I'm beginning to notice it a lot here.

A story where humans are scaring the werewolves.

A story wherein someone becomes a werewolf and finds out that being a werewolf means your bodyparts slowly melts away, and becomes progressively despairing as time goes by, until he reaches the breaking point of fetal screaming. And in the end, we find that he's already a werewolf, and has been stuck in the ICU for 10 years, suffering extreme hallucinations that's slowly killing him day by day.
A story where a pregnant female werewolf is trapped in a labyrinthine version of her own house and is being constantly harassed and chased by a mutated baby with a half-gelatinous head containing an eyeball 5 times its own size that can kill things with its flesh-eating jaw hands, and can stick to ceiling a la Spider-Lycans... and find out that it's her own baby trying to kill her.
or
Be a bit lazy and do a werewolf variant of this:
