Anyway, there's an existing thread here. It really was in plain sight on the third page. Please skim through the existing topics if you suspect you might be making a duplicate thread.

The previous thread's title was "How tall should they be?" In all fairness, there are only four pages worth of topic titles; it should not be that hard and/or time-consuming to sort through them. As has been stated enough, most of us would rather you just resurrect the old thread than duplicate it.Vilkacis wrote:Anyway, there's an existing thread here. I still think that a 2+ foot height increase is WAY too much...unless it is a purely magical transformation which is supposed to change the person into an unstopable Wolf-Beast, in which case, go for broke and make them 10-12 feet tall. YOWZA! That's cool too...in the right context.
Otherwise, if you are trying to go for a relatively Believable Werewolf, I'd say that after the boost from the switch from plantigrade to Digitgrade, minus the standing height lost from the bent over posture, a werewolf would be an average of just under a foot taller if measured from the tops of their ears. (Though undeniably much bigger in appearance and actual volume).
In other words, the level of their eyes when looking at you would be an inch or two above where they were before...but the Werewolf is slouching and bending down now. (If you can bend down and still have your eyes Above where they were before, I'd say that is a pretty impressive size increase.)

I don't want the werewolf to look like its suffering from Osteoporosis.Vuldari wrote:In other words, the level of their eyes when looking at you would be an inch or two above where they were before...but the Werewolf is slouching and bending down now.
I liked the way the Van Helsing were standing also.

Of course not. I didn't mean to quite such an extent. The way the Werewolves in VH and even your own Avatar have a slightly "forward" center of gravity is what I meant.Figarou wrote:I don't want the werewolf to look like its suffering from Osteoporosis.

Not completely hunched over. (Like the WW's in the "Bloodmoon" Expansion for Morrowind.)

Humans lean foward while walking as well. It doesn't signifigantly affect their height.Vuldari wrote:No...but it IS leaning forward. I didn't use the word "Hunched".Lupin wrote:Dogs standing on their back legs don't look hunched.

Niether does standing on ones toes add more than a few insignificant inches to ones height. What I was getting at was that these changes would add up to almost no difference in standing height without measuring the ears as well, but the person would still look considerably larger regardless of this.Lupin wrote:Humans lean foward as well. well, the wolf's neck is designed to move freely compared to the human. It may appear like its leaning forward a bit when standing on 2 legs.
If the wolf aligns his neck with the spine, he'll be standing straight up like a human.
When the wolf is on all fours, his head is held up high.
Humans on all fours will have a hard time holding the head up high like a wolf. It'll put a curve in the neck line. It won't be aligned with the spine and it'll give us an odd body position. Its also a pain in the neck!! (no pun in 10 did)

Indeed...it seems my words were unanimously interpreted in the exaggerated sense. I only meant enough to counteract the minute difference created by standing on ones toes in a digitgrade stance.Lupin wrote:I just don't see where you get the "bent over posture" from. I could see "leaning forward" but not "bent over".Figarou wrote:well, the wolf's neck is designed to move freely compared to the human. It may appear like its leaning forward a bit when standing on 2 legs.
A humans shoulders and skull are almost perfectly centered above thier hips in a natural standing position. However, on 90% of the werewolves I have seen in images on the internet, the shoulders are forward compared to the hips, and the head even further so. How would you describe that in comparison to human posture? I thought "bent over" was a reasonable description. I didn't mean 'doubled over horizontal'. I guess I should have just used the word "leaning" rather than "bent", as that seems to have confused everyone.
