The Anthro Heros

Post by DWDruid »

(My last attempt at starting a new rp was a big flop, but I had this idea in my head for a while and I'd like to give this all another try.)

In a world where anthro animals are just as populous s humans and where super natural abilities are uncommon but not unheard of, a group of these highly talenyed individuals have teamed up together to protect the city of Dalma. With crime ranging from petty thieves to diabolical masterminds out to destroy the world, they'll to rely on both their powers and each other to stop the city's descent into chaos.

Basicaly, you can pick any character you want, what species they'll be, any powers they have(only about one or two powers per character and no al-lpowerful abilities either), and what their alignment is good or evil. Whatever your alignment is determines what team your on( I don't know any names for them yet, if anyone has any ideas please PM me). Powers will work like this, I will allow almost anything such as flying, super strength, super speed, element binding(fire, water, wind, earth, etc.), telekinesis, and limited shape-shifting. How powerful an ability will be determined by a scale from 1 to 5. For example, if someone controled fire, a level 1 bility will only be able to create fire in their hands, a level 3 can cause raging infernos, and a level 5 would be able to change into a mighty fire demon. If your unsure how to classify the pwoer you want, just PM me and I'll help you sort it out. I haven't completely thought out how I want this to go so I don't want to start the story yet. But if any of you can help me come up with some ideas for this, I think this could become a great story.

FACTIONS:

(I was thinking maybe corporations could have a major role in controlling the crime.)
...

Sigma Corporation: A major, multi-billion dollar corporation that is created by a group of ex-politicians in order to restore control of the city into the government. While they are mostly focused on stopping the crime, they are also out to take the final product for themselves. They don't care about the people, but those they hire don't know that. Good

Background Information: Established during the "Chaos Era", whenever the gangs first established a foothold in the city, Sigma Corporation quickly gained ground in the green zone of Dalma. Controlling almost half of all legally operating businesses in the green zone, they are perhaps one of the wealthiest operators in the city. Most of their "crime-ridding" operations take place through private investments and hired mercenary activity, but little is known about the corporation itself.

Estimated Strength: 557 Humans/ 25 Anthro
Leader: Marcus "Mac" Preser
Known Weapons: ZX-57 SMG/ Trek-Gold Revolvers and Pistols/ Hacking Devices/ Combat Knives
Threat Level: Unknown
Side: Good
...

City Defense Initiative: In terms of the city, the real good-guys, run by the former city's police. It's mostly operated by police chiefs and ex-military officials, anthro and non-anthro. Those that work for them are out to save the city.

Background Information: During the "Chaos Era", many law enforcement agencies were infiltrated and corupted by agents of multiple gangs. In response, a bear who only goes by the name of 'The Chief' decided to rebuild the system from the ground up. With support from other higher-ups and with goverment funding, the City Defense Initiative, or the CDI, was founded. With the goal of stopping ever major gang in Dalma City and bring them to true justice, they accept volunteers of all types, though heavy background checks are required to prevent any kind of coruption.

Estimated Strength: 215 humans/ 157 Anthros
Leader: The Chief, no one knows his real name
Known Weapons: Police issued AR-15s/ MP-5s/ .44 Magnums/ any and all special 'talented' persons
Threat Level: None
Side: Good

...

Andromeda's Angels: One of the many criminal organizations that are focused on taking over the city. They will kill anyone and anything that gets in their way.

Background Information: Execpt for being the most notorious group in Dalma City, not much is known about this gang. Where ever there's a crime you can bet they have at least one hand in it. Lead by the mysterious and infamous "Shadow" and his five generals, the Angels will recuit anybody with a talent, be it marksmanship, fighting abilities, engineering, science, or something more 'supernatural'. This group's motives and final goal remain yet unknown.

Estimated Strength: Unknown
Leader: "Shadow" and his five generals 'Vixen', 'Omega', 'Fang', 'Flint', and 'Pyre'
Weapons: Whatever they can get their hands on
Threat Level: High
Side: Evil

...

Rudenya Smuggling Union: Once a small time petty gang, Rudenya Smuggling Union is now the primary supplier of illegal weapons to most of the gangs throughout Dalma.

Background Information: Founded on the Island of Rudenya by an Anthro-Wolf named Blade, a ruthless ex-military operative, the RSU now thrives as one of the most feared criminal groups in Dalma, below Andromeda's Angels. Most of their operations take place along the rivers throughout Dalma's outer districts, and are often discrete. While there haven't been any serious reports of RSU/CDI conflict, there has been conflict between Sigma Coporation Mercenaries and RSU pirates.

Estimated strength: 225 humans/ 175 Anthro
Leader: Blade "Cutter" Tykuj
Known weapons: W5 Screamer (RPG)/ TK-88 Automatic Rifle
Threat level: Moderate
Side: Evil

...

Children of Luna: Little is known about the gang besides the fact that it is mostly composed of numerous species of Anthro followers. Most that have witnessed its acts consider it more of a cult than a gang.

Background Information: Besides the little information that is widely known, there is little to say about the Children of Luna. According to rumor, the group is very nature oriented, and often criticizes the modern world for its group-based problems. Most problems that arise from this gang occur on the outskirts of the city, near the forests.

Estimated Strength: 400
Leader: Unknown
Known Weapons: Unknown
Threat level: Moderate
Side: Can't be determined at this time

I fully approve of Miguel's ideas on this RP so we will be sing them. I believe we now have enough information for me to start us off.

Name: Eclipse
Secret Identity: Leon Dawner
Age: 23
Race: Wolf
Eyes: Glowing radiation green
Hair: Fur is black with white under his chin, on his stomach, around his paws, and surronding his eyes. (See avatar picture)
Height: 6'5''
Clothing: Wears a black and white costume tjat follows the same color scheme of his fur along with a solid black cape and a hood that covers his head.
Weapons/Tools: Uses only his mind, but carries aound extra tools his teamates use in case any of them break.
Alignment: Sides with the City Defense Initiative-Good
Powers(if any): Lv 4 Telekinesis, he can move objects that are up to 2 metric tons with his mind, can levitate with concentration, also has limited mind reading abilities( can only read minds that are open to him), has an IQ of 257
Position on Team: Chief Scientist, Researcher, and Inventor
History: Born and raised in Dalma, he grew up with his father who taught him good morals, ethics, and a healthy respect for justice. After his father was killed during an attack from Andromeda's Angels when he was 16, he was placed into Child Services and placed into many foster homes. Never stayed in one home for more than a couple of weeks as the foster parents would become afraid of his powers and dark attitude he devolped after his father's death. When his sixth foster home sent him back he decided that he has had enough and ran away to lve off the streets. After two years of hard living Leon drew attention when he used his powers to fight back a small gang of Andromeda's Angels. He got offers from both the City Defense Initiative and the Sigma Corporation who both wanted to ue his gifts to achieve their ends. He decided to join the CDI due to their connections to the police force. With his high IQ, psychic talents, and his desire for justice he quickly moved up in ranks and became the Chief cientist when he was 21.

Leon, or Eclipse depending on the situation, was hard at work in his lab at the CDI's underground headquarters. His own personal lab had everything he every needed, it was advanced, up-to-date with the latest technologies, quiet, and best of all, lonely. Leon prfered it that way. Inall his 5 years at the CDI, he never made any true friends or tried to get close to anybody. "People are unreliable", Leon's cold, logical mind concluded, "You get to know someone and they eithet let you down, abandon you, or leave you forever, just like fathe..." Leon quickly shock his head to release these distracting thoughts and focused on his work. His project was tp secret and of the most importance. Andromeda's Angels were gaining new members every day and their pool of powers kept growing and becoming more advanced than the CDI's. So, Leon decided to try one of his most challenging and dangerous theories evr, to develop a machine tht will drasticaly the power of a person's ability. Leon was working on this without any help, guideance, or perission. If any of te higher ups knew of his goal before it was completed, they work trash the project and send him back to the streets. Suddenly, Leon heard the door to his lab open. Using his mind, he did a quick scan of the individual's conscience to determine who it was. Realizing who the person was Leon gave a quick sigh, saved his program on his private file, and closed his computer beforethe "Yes?" he asked, not turning around.

Name: Kedan Sorva
Age: 21
Race: Wolf/coyote hybrid
Eyes: Brownish gold
Hair: Fur is black and tan everywhere except his ears, which are white from a genetic abnormality. The fur on his arms and legs appears slightly darker than the rest.
Height: 6'3"
Clothing: Kedan wears a gray combat fatigue uniform provided by his employer, Sigma Corporation. Protective pads cover many of his joints to prevent damage to his limbs. Also, he wears a headset with a digital eyepiece to help him see. During surgery in his younger years, a human doctor intentionally attempted to blind him in his left eye.
Weapons: ZX-57 Automatic rifle, a light, but inaccurate machine gun. Combat Knife. Wahlen Revolver, a high caliber revolver capable at firing six shots, then needing to be reloaded. Hacking Device, sometimes attached to his arm whenever working around machinery.
Alignment: Sigma Corporation, mostly because they saved him in his younger years.
Powers: Increased hearing (from his blindness in one eye)
Positon: Tech Specialist/Scout

History: Born in a small town outside Dalma, Kedan grew up in the dark for most of his early life. His parents refused to show him the world beyond Kortell and its surrounding terrain. Around his twelfth birthday, however, a genetic abnormality began showing through his fur, one that had run in his mother's bloodline. If left untreated, the abnormality would kill him by his fourteenth birthday. His family was left with little choice, so they agreed to bring him to see a doctor in Dalma that specialized in antro-genetics. The doctor, however, didn't show any respect for anthros, and really just wanted fame. So, intentionally, during Kedan's surgery, the doctor mostly blinded Kedan in one eye. He blamed the blindness on Kedan's genetics, though, and got off without any problems. Later, Kedan's father agreed to abandon his son in order to maintain a good reputation.

Kedan was abandoned on the streets of Dalma, but was taken in by the Sigma-Corporation around his fourteenth birthday. He was trained, and in appreciation for his service, Sigma-Corporation gave him a device that allowed him to see the world through his blind eye once more.
...

Kedan made his way through the lobby of the CDI headquarters, observing the actions of the people around him. It was strange to him. All of the people in that place had one goal in common, to save the city from the monsters that had claimed its streets. Sigma-Corporation never worked as the CDI did. There was never any teamwork, or common goal. It was always small talk, then little action; maybe an occasional raid or two, but in the end it was always about money, which was one thing he never had. Humans pitied him, at least those that he knew. Still, though, they cared about him more than his family had.

It was difficult for him to see inside the CDI headquaters. There was too much light, which made the eyepiece act up. The scientists back at HQ were supposed to be upgrading the headset, but he knew that until he completed a task for Sigma-Corp, they wouldn't. A couple of guards stood up ahead, on each side of an elevator. They signaled for him to stop. Kedan complied.

"Sir, all visitors are to report to the front desk for clearance," the taller guard spoke, pointing towards a marble desk in a circular lounge-like room.
"I'm here to see someone," Kedan replied, trying not to show his fear of the guards. Humans had always made him feel uncomfortable.
"I don't care. Without clearance, you aren't getting past us."
"Hey!" a woman screamed towards the guards from behind the desk, giving a thumbs up signal, "He's good. Sigma just called us up. They've sent him."
"Sigma?" the guard again spoke, nodding. "What the heck do they want?"
"He's fine, man," the second guard interrupted. "This one can't even see clearly."
"Yeah, I guess you're right," the first guard pressed the button beside the elevator doors.

The doors opened and the guards stepped aside, allowing Kedan to enter the elevator. With a quick motion, Kedan pressed the lowest button on the elevator's panel, and watched the doors close. The elevator began descending.

The person he was looking for was a wolf that went by the name of Eclipse. He had met the operative before, but didn't exactly want to meet him again. Sigma-Corp had wanted Eclipse in their arsenal of tools for a while. They lacked a lot of things that CDI had, things that money couldn't buy. Twice now, they had sent Kedan to do the grunt work, as a recruiter; the first time had been a near disaster.

The elevator stopped, and the doors opened. The new place was much easier to see in, had dim lighting. It was well cared for too. Kedan stepped forward and placed his paw on the frame of a door. On the other side, his assignment resided. Eclipse wasn't the social type; the place fitted him well.

He entered the room, a workplace full of computers and other machines.

"Yes?" Eclipse spoke, somehow already aware of Kedan's presence.

Kedan was startled. He was still trying to think of what he was going to say.

"I...uhh...don't mean to interrupt your work, Eclipse. My higher-ups sent me, to talk to you. They want you to work for Sigma-Corporation; they're willing to pay a lot of money."

Kedan's eyepiece was malfunctioning. The battery was low.

(Sorry for taking too long, the internet has been down at my house since Sunday)

I sighed at the other wolf's words. Sigma just didn't understand that I was one tool they would never be able to use. I heard a faint sputtering of a dying machine and sensed Kedan's frustration focused on his headset.

"Let me fix that for you." I told him before using my power to pick up the headset and placing it on the table. Letting my mind flow into the machine, I sensed the barely lingering power of the battery and the normal wear and tear kind of damage from the constant use of the device. With a small motion from my hand, I willed my tools towards me and began working. Kedan might work for Sigma, but he still had a good soul.

AS I worked, I addressed him again without turning around. "Just as I told you last time Kedan, I have no interest in working for Sigma. I'm not influenced by money or power like they are. My place is with the CDI and my work his is too important to be stopped now. So again, tell them thanks, but no thanks."

Sending my tools back into their corect places, I picked up Kedan's newly upgraded headset and gave it another look over. It now had a new, longer lasting battery that would charge from solar power. I even fixed the eyepiece on the machine so that it would suffer less from glithes and be even more durable. "Here, finished." I told him, letting the device fly back into his hands.

Kedan examined over his headset, silently, and then fitted it back onto his head. Pressing the power button, he watched as the world lit up brighter and clearer than it had ever done before. Sigma Corp wouldn't like it; he was supposed to earn what he had. The eyepeice was what they controlled him by, giving it upgrades and such to make him complete their tasks. They didn't have to know, though, at least until they actually upgraded it.

What Eclipse had done was strange to Kedan. Nobody had ever helped him without expecting something in return, at least humans hadn't. Every anthro he had ever associated with was quickly turned away by Sigma-Corporation, apparently in attempts to keep him in top performance.

"I-I appreciate it, Eclipse," Kedan spoke. "Nobody has ever done anything like this for me. It's difficult being blind like this. Humans see it the wrong way, like I've done something to deserve it. The eyepiece hides it, at least from a distance."

Kedan knew he couldn't go back without Eclipse following. They would punish him for not following through with his assignment. He seated himself on a nearby chair and looked towards the floor.

"I can't go back there, Eclipse," Kedan again spoke. "They are angry with me because of some bad things I did. If I go back empty handed, they will abandon me and take my sight away again. The world is better with two eyes, you understand."

As I tried to return to my work, Kedan began speaking again. What could he have done to have made Signa so angry at him. He was a fine fighter and worker from what I could make of him. I thought for another moment or two, before turing my chair around to face him again. He head was turned down towards the floor and his mind was closed to me, so it became much hader for me to understand his thoughts.

I tried again, "I'm sorry Kedan, but I'm afraid nothing Sigma can do will sway my alligance, the CDI saved me from a life on the streets and gave my life hope and purpose. I coudn't betray them now even if I wanted to. Besides, I have other, 'personal' reasons for staying." I briefly thought of my father before returning to Kedan "But I can understand what your going through, Your headset was given to you to control you, a carrot used to pull their donkey cart or so to say. But I'd rather not see you get hurt so, why do't you jion us. The CDI is always looking for new recruits and we can protect you from Sigma. As you can tell from your new headset our technology and resourcesae just as great if not better." I got up and reached my and towards him, "Come, we'll speak to the chief together, and save you from Sigma."

Kedan remained seated for a moment, trying to analyze his options. Just leaving Sigma Corp would anger his overseers so much that they would probably try to hunt him down. He had seen it happen before, with other operatives. Sigma did bad things to them, things similar to what the doctor had done to him when he was young; sometimes what they did was ten times worse. At the same time, though, CDI seemed like a better place. Anthros and humans worked alongside one another; it was something that would have never happened at Sigma Corp.

Slowly, he stood up and looked towards the room's exit. It was his chance to leave, but where would he go. Then he thought of her filled his mind. Maybe? No. She couldn't work for CDI. After all, it was because of her that he killed them, the humans. The people in CDI were good people, would never inentionally harm innocents.

It was worth a shot, though.

He stepped forward and nodded, accepting Eclipse's offer. It was the right choice; it had to be. The new place was a good place, not like Sigma Corp at all.

"It would be an honor to fight for CDI's cause, Eclipse," Kedan spoke. "Will they accept me, though? A while ago, I did some bad things. I associated myself with the wrong people, you see. Without Sigma Corp's knowledge, I was in a relationship with a female by the name of Vera, a wolf hybrid like myself. There were these humans, CDI I think, and Vera didn't like them. She told me they were looking for her. And I didn't want them to find her."

Kedan paused, feeling the terror of his past overtake him.

"I...I...killed them," he continued.

Re: The Anthro Heros

So this is the dark terrible secret Kedan had been hiding from me, killing humans, possibly even CDI agents for the sake of a female. I pondered for a moment. I could help him with his guilt, but that would involve revealing a part of my own past, something I couldn't do lightly. Could I trust him with that kind of information?

I mentaly shock my head to clear my thoughts. Why did I can so much about the fate of this young man who was a simple tool of Sigma? For five years, it has been my personal policy to not get close to people, the better to protect myself from being hurt again. It work thus far, so why was I breaking it now? "Aw, what the hell?" I thought to myself.

Returning my gaze to Kedan, I bagan my speech that could break my barrier I spent five years building. "Kedan, I understand you concern. You're afraid of suffering the conciquences of the mistakes of your past. But we have all done dark acts in the past. IN fact, before I joined CDI I used to live off the streets. One day I was digging through trash in a dumpster behind a restrrant when I was approached by a group of 6 people. I didn't know it then, but they were agents of Andromeda's Angels sent to "recruit" me. Apparently the group has an individual who can track people with powers. Anyways, the group that came agter me really wasn't all that impressive, a level 2 Fire weilder, a level 1 telekinetic, a level 3 flyer, and the rest ddn't even have powers. When I defende myself from them, I was able to knock out two of them without much difficulty. But after seeing their teamates fall, the rest began to attack even harder and fiercer than before. The Fire weilder tried to burn down the buildings around me and the only way I was able to stop him was by snapping his neck. When the telekinetic threw a dumpster at me, I was able to push it aside easily, but it smashed into the other two, killing them instantly. After that, the telekinetic decided that I was a lost cause and instead tried to choke me. I was almost out of oxygen before I was able to severe a few blood arteries in his brain, casing him to bleed from the inside-out. A few minutes later, both the CDI and Sigma found me in the alley, exhuasted, surrounded by odies and blood."

Taking a breathe, I continued speaking, "So, that's my story. We all have our dark secrets but the important thing is to learn from them, and continue living the lives we want to live. Trust me Kedan, the Cheif let me join despite the deaths that I caused, and he'll accept you too."

Kedan was having trouble belieiving what Eclipse had told him. It didn't seem possible that Eclipse could have done such a thing. CDI had people that were pure hearted, people that fought only for good; it seemed like a place that didn't hold secrets. Sigma was everything that CDI wasn't: mysterious, dark, and corrupt. The more Kedan thought about it, the angrier he became. They had used him for so long; Eclipse was right. They wanted to keep him seperated from the world. In Eclipse's lab, he was thinking for himself for the first time in a very long while.

"Then I will happily fight for CDI, and am willing to die if that's what it takes," Kedan spoke. This place offered him everything he never had. "I won't be Sigma's puppet anymore."

Really, it was the first time he had ever told anyone about his past, about what he had done. But part of him wanted to go back to that past; he wanted to see Vera one more time. He knew, though, that if he did join CDI he probably wasn't going to see her alive. She had been part of Andromeda's Angels last time they were together, and probably still was. She would forever be out of his life.

Quickly, Kedan returned his attention to the world around him. He didn't want Eclipse seeing his weakness. Recruits couldn't be weak, especially not specialists. He looked towards the door and adjusted his eyepiece's brightness so that it matched the light of the hallway on the other side.

"Lead on, friend," Kedan spoke towards Eclipse.

I stopped for a moment before we cotinued. Kedan had just called me a friend. No one had called me a friend for as long as I could remember. Maybe it was just another word for coworker or partner in Kedan's mind? It would be best to think of it that way and not get too close emotionally.

We both left the lab and I made sure that the door was bolted and completly locked tight. My research was too important, classified, and dangerous to not be heavily protected. That's why the CDI installed This indestructable door trhat was also comletley immune to all phyical and mentaly damage. In fact, it had a high-tech sensor that would only open from my personal brain waves. Making sure everything was locked good and tight, Kedan and I made our way to the elevator and I entered the floor number of the CDI's higher-ups' offices and that of the Chief's.

Kedan followed behind Eclipse silently; truthfully he was nervous about meeting the one called Chief. All of the people that he had worked for in his past had looked down upon him. As far as he was concerned, Chief was going to be no different. Still, though, he was going to, for the first time, be working alongside another anthro, and in a way it felt strange. He had never really understood his own kind as well as he understood humans; he had no idea how to interact or even speak to others like himself.

The elevator ride had provided a chance for him to think about what Sigma would do. Surely they would come looking for him, if not try and kill him. kedan knew he was always going to be their pet no matter what, and it bothered him. Then the elevator stopped and they exited onto another floor, one that was clearly full of 'decision makers', the big guys. Kedan couldn't help but stare. He had never been anywhere near where important people resided.

He looked to Eclipse, "This is it?"

I took a moment to study the human who entered the elevator with us. A couple years older, unique eyes and hair, and had a feral look about him. Definately dangerous, but none of my concern. I was surprised to see that he seemed to be headed for the same floor as us.

When we arrived at the top floor, I walked ahead straight ignoring the lower officers. Kedan seemed in awe of all around and the human was still going where we were. I stopped at the Cheif's door and addressed the cat anthro behind the small desk outside. "Sandy, we need to see the Cheif if he's not too busy." Sandy gave me a small nod and clicked away at her computer. Soon she turned to me and said, "He's in the middle of an important phone call at the moment, you can wait there until he's finished. I'll let you know when he's ready." She motioned to some chairs off in the corner.

"Thanks." I turned back Kedan and said "Come on, let's wait." I sat down in one of the chairs and thought about what I would tell the Chief. Fortunately it won't be too long, the Chief was always eager to speak to me. As I waited, I saw the human approach Sandy. I was curious about what he woud want with the Chief and since he seemed to be distracted for the moment, I branched my mind out to see what he was thinking. His mind was pretty strong though and I couldn't make hear much. But through the Static I was able to hear a brief message, "...ke down Andromeda's An...". I almost physically gasped. Was this human trying to stop Andromeda's Angels too? Who was he, or more importantly, how?

Kedan seated himself in one of the waiting chairs and turned his attention towards the human that had been in the elevator. Strange. Could it have been one of the collection agents for Sigma? Had they already sent a person to check on his mission status? The thoughts were making Kedan edgy. He wasn't going back, not to Sigma. Slowly, he reached for the revolver attached to his ammo belt. He was prepared to fight back if the human was going to try and take him away.

Yet, something about the human didn't fit with Sigma. Maybe it was the way the person looked, but Kedan couldn't quite tell. He then looked towards Eclipse, and then back to the human.

Eclipse too seemed to notice something about the human.

"I don't trust him," Kedan spoke as quietly as possible, not wanting the human to hear. "He might be from Sigma."

I whispered back, "I'm not sure, I can't pick up anything from his mind. We'l just have to wait and see." I didb't tell him that he was thinking something about Andromeda's Angels because I didn't want to spook him when he was this nervous about seeing the Chief. Speaking of which, "Mr. Eclipse, the Chief is ready to se you now." Sandy said to me, she seemed finished speaking with the human for now. "Thank you Sandy", I replied and after motioning to Kedan, we entered the office.

The office was high-tech but still simple. The Chief liked to be up to date, but not weighed down with unimportant facts or details. No onw knew the Chief's real name or anything of his past. There have been rumors of him being high up in the law enforcement before Andromeda's Angel's infultrated and coruputed the justice system. The onlt thing we knew for sure was that he was probably the man who was more hell-bent in stopping Andromeda's Angel's, he hated them even more than myself.

As we arroached his large desk and chair he looked at us, first at me and then a suspious glance at Kedan, before speaking, What do you need to talk about Leon? Is it about your project? He seemed grumpy today, but then again most anthro bears are grumpy almost all the time. I winced as he called me by my true name, not many people knew it and I liked to keep it that way. It was fine when he addressed me that when alone, but now Kedan knew it. And he if he couldn't join us, then Sigma would know it. "My project has had jo major break-throughs sir, but everything is up to schedule. But that's not why I'm hear. This is Kedan," pointing over my should to him, "He works with Sigma as a recruiter as well as other grunt work. He came to me only a few minutes ago and showed intereest in joining us so we came here to talk about any possible employment he might have here."

The Chief cocked an eyebrow and gave Kedan another glance. "Really." he almost muttered. "Leon, please leave us. I'd like to 'interview' Kedan before deciding." "Yes sir." I replied before exiting. Before the door closed I could hear the Chief's first question, "Why do you want to leave Sigma for us? Do they not 'pay' you enough for your services?"

Kedan was hesitant to reply to the question; one wrong response would risk destroying any chance he had at joining CDI. His heart was pounding. He didn't want to upset the Chief, whom already seemed rather annoyed. He flexed his hands, and then made his way towards the large window overlooking the crime infested city. He was ill prepared for this interview. Never before had he worked for another Anthro.

Outside, Sigma Tower stood just a couple miles away. Kedan was imagining the building's CEO watching him, ready to issue the kill order if he even spoke to the Chief. The CEO's office was clearly visible, a large multi-floor window that glimmered on the building's highest levels. Next to it, a helicopter hovered. The mere sight made Kedan feel nauseous.

Slowly, Kedan removed his eyepiece and turned to face the Chief. He could see his reflection in the office's mirror; the large white gash that ran across his blind eye's iris was clearly visible. The reflection was returning memories to him, ones that he didn't want to remember.

"Truly, I didn't come here expecting to leave Sigma Corporation, sir. I was sent on a mission to bring Eclipse...err...Leon to Sigma's side. Then I saw how differently this place functions, though; it is so different than Sigma. Truthfully, I never spoke to another Anthro outside of mission before today. I was contained by my overseers back at HQ, kept in the dark. I realize now that I was being used because of my weakness." Kedan pointed towards his blind eye. "The eyepiece gives me sight in my blind eye, and it is Sigma's bait, used to tangle me into their plans. It is because of this that I stayed with them for so long, but now I realize there are better places in the world than that place."

Kedan turned away, feeling slightly embarassed by his abnormality. He returned his eyepeice to the headset and again moved towards the window.

"If anything, sir, I wish to stay here so that I have a place to belong. I...I want a place to start over," Kedan spoke, dragging out the final part of his explaination.

After a few minutes of waiting outside I was called in again. When I entered the Chief turned to Kedan and said, "If you wouldn't mind giving us a minute." After he left, he turned his attention back to me. "To put it bluntly Leon, I like this kid and want him to work for us. The problem is his past with Sigma. Our connections with them are already diminishing and I don't know if we can afford any more loss in relations with them. He might not know this himself, but Sigma probably likes what he does for them. They wouldn't trust just anybody to try to recuit you. This is what I'm going to do, I'm going to hire him under two conditions: 1) He breaks off from Sigma completely by himself and 2) You take him under your wing as your 'apprentice' so to speak."

I stood ther for a moment, horrified at what he was suggesting. I stammered out, "N-no disrespect sir, but I work best alone!" That's when he gave me his 'no-nonsence-don't-piss-off-the-bear' look everybody dreaded. "Look Leon, if you want this kid to join your going to have to take a bigger part in his future." He then went back to his computer, meaning that this discussion was over. As I left, one last worry bothered me. "What about the Project sir?" Sighing, he gave me one last look and replied, "If yo trust him enough you can tell him, but only AFTER he has broken allties with Sigma."

Leaving the office, I found Kedan outside still waiting. I approached him and said, "He said that the City Defense Initiative would be glad to accept you."

Silently, Kedan made his way out of the office, towards the large observation window in the waiting room. He could still see Sigma Tower, but in the new room it was much less of an eyesore; only a small portion of the building was visible, and the CEO's office wasn't. This relieved him in a way. For once Sigma wouldn't be able to watch him.

He pressed his head against the glass, trying to hide his face from the one known as Sandy. When others watched him, it was always because of his eye, or because of his ears; they were always studying his abnormalities, never wanting to talk to him or be friendly. In a way, he had grown used to it, though. Sigma had always promised to "make him normal again" if he did work for them, but for some strange reason there had always been more work and less promising, until he just did work for them and didn't expect anything in return.

Then something else filled his mind.

Again, he was thinking of her, the wolf-hybrid female, Vera. He wondered if she still loved him, or if she had found another male. He wondered if she still killed CDI troops for enjoyment, or if she had become less devious. Really, though, overall he wondered where she was.

Kedan backed away from the window and made his way to the center of the waiting room, nervously casting glaces towards the cat-anthro known as Sandy. She didn't seem to be watching him, which was good. Maybe the people in CDI were different from those outside. Maybe they didn't think of him as being strange. He doubted it though.

Eventually, the doors of the Chief's office opened and Eclipse made his way towards Kedan. Kedan's mind filled with excitement. What he was being told was far from what he expected. CDI wanted him to join them. Finally, he had a new home, a better place that didn't hold dark secrets or lies. Eclipse had helped him, which was something nobody had ever done before.

"I...I appreciate it, Eclipse," Kedan spoke, slightly overtaken by the shock of the moment. "I won't let CDI down."

Still, though, part of Kedan felt betrayed, like he had done something wrong. As much as he dispised Sigma Corp, everything he had ever learned was because of them. He looked to Eclipse, and then to the ground.

I couldn't stop myself from smiling just a little bit from watching Kedan's reaction, but I quickly stopped and went back to business. "Unfortunatly, the Cheif did have some conditions," I started off, "One, he says you are to work with me as my partner until he can relocate you to a more approriate position and two, he requests that you break off any and all connections you have with Sigma, he doesn't want any bad releations to occur from your change in employment."

Kedan grimaced.

He was terrified of actually ending relations with his former employer. From what he had seen, nobody ever left Sigma, at least not alive. The executives that had put so much money into him would be furious. According to what they thought, he was never supposed to be able to make choices outside of basic survival; he was an asset, a weapon that had cost them millions. At the same time, though, Kedan knew that returning to them without completing his assignment would make them just as angry. They would punish him.

With a terrified glance, Kedan looked up to Eclipse and nodded. His decision was final.

"Very well," Kedan spoke, sighing. "I will end my ties with Sigma. Will I need to confront them though?"

"Let's talk about this back at my lab." I said heading towards the elevator. There I could make a few calls and finalize Kedan's employment with the CDI. After going through all the secruity doors on my floor, I brought Kedan a box. "There's a small bathroom in there," pointing to a door over my shoulder, "take this box and place in it anything you have that belongs to Sigma, including your uniform and headset. Don't worry, I can easily make you a new one from scratch. I'll send for a new CDI uniform to be delievered to you. You can call Sigma later informing them of your decision, so unless you would like to pick up any personal items from them you won't even have to meet them. See you in a bit."As he entered the bathroom, I picked up my phone and dialed while I used my powers to help clear out and old storage room. When your a telekinetic, its easy to multitask.

On the other end of the phone I heard, "This is the Supplies Office how can I help you?"

"Hi Greg this is Eclipse. I have a new recuit here in my lab so I need you to send down new uniform and other required equipment. Also make sure they're designed for a wolf."

"Yes sir, I'll also get a room set up fo-"

"Unnessesary, the Cheif wishes for him to work with me so he'll be occuping one of my personal quarters. But I will also need some room furniture brought down as well. So send me a bed, a small wardrobe, a mirror, a dresser, a bookshelf, and as well as a personal safe."

"I will send them to you ASAP sir."

Everything I had asked for arrived about five minutes later. I took out Kedan's new uniform and inspected it. Made of a gray stretchy material that was both light and durable, it was oufited with multiple pockets for weapons and other needed equipment, even though Kedan wouldn't be allowed anything until he could prove to the training instructors that he could use them. I could tell they got the species right from the holes in the gloves for his claws and on the pants for his tail. The CDI's symbol and initials were endorsed on the left breat pocket of the shirt, announcing the alligence of the wearer. Carefully folding the garments, I walked over to the bathroom and knocked on the door. "Kedan, if your done I've got your uniform here."

For a moment, Kedan stared into the bathroom's mirror, observing the gear that he was going to have to part with; it felt strange. Sigma's uniform had become a part of him, it seemed; every mission he had carried out, he had worn it. Removing it would be like removing his very soul, but it was going to be necessary; he wasn't with Sigma Corporation anymore. Now he was a defender of good and he was going to do everything he could to repay those that he had hurt in his past, the past that he knew he could never really forget.

Slowly, he removed the headset and switched off the power button; it was the device that he had for so long pushed to finally have, but now he was throwing it away. Maybe with its leaving, the bad memories would leave too. He lowered it into the box, and then his weapons; each object was a part of his very life being thrown away. In his mind, the Sigma instructor was teaching him how to fire the revolver, and teaching him how to shoot a live target: a wolf Anthro, like Eclipse. A criminal, they had called it. Two shots, he remembered, two pulls of the trigger, then blood. Two shots was all it took. Deep down, he was a murderer.

Next, he removed his fatigues, the gray, specially fitted uniform that he had always known; it was his sense of security. In it, he was invincible, or at least that's what Sigma had told him. He had killed a lot of people while wearing it, a lot of innocent souls. Sigma had never told him why he was doing the things he was doing. At times the people would beg him, but he never quite knew how to respond, so they would die without a word of peace.

Kedan jumped as Eclipse knocked on the door behind him. This was going to be the last time he would ever see his gear from Sigma. He lifted the box, sighed, and then opened the door, handing it to Eclipse. Quickly, he accepted the new uniform and dressed, finding that the new uniform was much more comfortable than his previous. The gloves seemed to have cutouts for his claws, which his gloves from Sigma lacked completely. His life seemed to be completely new.

After flexing his hands and moving his tail a couple times, Kedan moved from the bathroom, into the room where Eclipse was standing. The uniform was different, but would quickly become used to. He hoped that Sigma would never see him in such a thing.

"So, uh, everything's in that box," Kedan spoke, nervously. "I'll miss it, but it's for the best I think."

"Alright, I'll send these off to Sigma next chance I get. Now, you'll get the typical CDI-issued weapons and other equipment when you pass the required courses. You peobably already have some experience with Sigma but policy dicates that you pass our tests first before we can trust you with our equipment. I've set you up with the required classes for tomarrow including "Hand-to-Hand Combat" with Captain Harker, "LOng Ranged Weapons" with Captain Stray, "Covert Operations" with Captain Mest, followed by "Talents: What You Need To Know To Defend Yourself" in which I'm the instructor. But that all can wait untill tomarrow."

Pointing to another door I added, "Through there is a hallway with three doors, each locked by security key code. The one in the middle leads to my personal quaters which you may never enter and the door on the right is a storage unit which you have no need to enter. The door on the left however is where you will live for the remainder of your time as my partner. It already includes the furnishings you need such as a bed, dresser, wardrobe, mirror, bookcase, and a safe for personal items. The code you your room is 7301. Now, would you like to rest in your room and settle in, or would you prefer a tour of the CDI's facilities?"
