*Peeks in* Wait, I'm not missing something am I, it's done? This is all of it? 12 chapters...
I just want to be sure, I don't want to give myself spoilers against future "Finalized" iterations or assume anything out of hand before I download it.

Re: Freeborn Novel Now Online
I don't know. This came out of left field for me. I was on DA looking for something else entirely and by pure happenstance bumbled across this. In fact, I'm sort of slammed with work right now and haven't had a chance to do more than take a peek.
I think he's planning on retiring the old script (which this appears to be) in favor of going to a different episodic format entirely with different characters -- but like, set in the same world...
...Or, maybe he's getting set to take another swipe (so to speak ) at launching this sucker again. That would be awesome.

Ahh, no worries, I'm guessing AB will pimp it on us when he's properly prepared to unleash it. I can wait .Uniform Two Six wrote:I don't know. This came out of left field for me. Pfft, the only way to make any money on that bet is if you actually enjoyed it Josh, we could bet a dollar each and all retire early to a private island with jet aircraft a piece on those odds .JoshuaMadoc wrote:Who wants to bet my review of it will be "it was awful/boring"?

Re: Freeborn Novel Now Online
Well, I finished it (the reports I should have been writing while I was doing so -- not so much). Anyway, it's not all up yet. The 12 chapters thus far don't quite get us to the famous Death-By-Transformation scene. I do think that it's actually a major improvement on the original script. A lot of the awkward parts that seemed really out of place are gone or much improved, and there's a few new things that weren't in the original. I like it.

Re: Freeborn Novel Now Online
Thank you, UTS .
I was just hoping actually that AB or one of his team might swing by to shed some light on things. I've since seen AB mention a 15th chapter in the comments on DA, I thought maybe there would be some more information about the state of play there, but alas my DA-Fu is weak .
Anyway nice find

Re: Freeborn Novel Now Online
Why the wanton dead humans? Why is Max keeping Tasha around even though she's clearly shown to be unsympathetic? Why is Tasha such a b****? Why is there only two extremes for choices given to the exposed humans? Why am I still reading this?
And no, don't even try to give me her backstory that was already mentioned in one chapter. I don't buy it.

To check the "Horror" tick box probably.JoshuaMadoc wrote:Why the wanton dead humans?

To check the "Seductive femme fatale" check box (needed to show the smarmy ladies man has flaws, in the shape of a very bonkers werewolf chick.)JoshuaMadoc wrote:Why is Tasha such a b****?

Just as well really, I haven't read this yet, I don't have any back stories. I won't be ripping it to shreds, I probably could, but we'll see. I'll wait till it's officially pimped/published here first. If not, then not at all.JoshuaMadoc wrote:And no, don't even try to give me her backstory that was already mentioned in one chapter. Re: Freeborn Novel Now Online
It's just... how many years was this worked on? How many arguments kept popping up over the years in the section of the forums that's meant to be some kind of King of the Hill for the universal ideal concept of a werewolf that Anthony stated he'd use as a reference library for Freeborn?
All of that, and it amounted to basically every werewolf story I've read, ever.

The way I see it, it's still Anthony Brownrigg's baby.
It was a bold move, arguably foolish, to put this forum here and consult werewolf fans. There's no way he can satisfy everybody and nor should he. The core concept was agreed upon circa 2005(?) I'd love to see it evolve too but there's a certain amount of anchorage he's obligated to provide about that. In the meantime since then it's been polished, gone through the "movie Vs. series" debate, reworked at least once to my knowledge. And now this, which given all that has happened may well be an act of "For the love of god get -something- published!".
The forum itself has taken on a life of its own, and grown far beyond AB's initial requirements, and outgrown him. That's quite the burden of expectation.
Maybe when it's done and dusted, the movie/series is out, and if AB still has the itch, maybe we'll get Freeborn 2.0

I'm not touching that with a ten foot pole. Oh my god, Tasha is the most artificially-made b**** stereotype I've ever seen in recent memory.

Re: Freeborn Novel Now Online
Oh, no, I've seen that of course, I meant back story expanded upon within the story itself. I assumed Josh was referencing something he read in the story which may have more back story than Tasha's Decision revealed. Something new or speculated.Uniform Two Six wrote:You haven't seen Tasha's Decision?Meeper wrote: Just as well really, I haven't read this yet, I don't have any back stories.
