I went and saw this the other day with my friends.
I really, really liked it. The ending is a little different than what you expect from most movies. It's a little bittersweet, and kinda sad, but I've gotten to where I kinda like that. After all, real life hardly ever has a perfect ending.
Lots and lots of gore. In fact, I can recall one scene where a small piece of human meat was actually sitting on Viggo Mortensen's chest.
About Viggo himself. He totally fits this role. Going into the theater, I thought that somehow I would not be able to look at him without thinking about Aragorn, but he transformed completely. His Tom Stall is totally believable.
And, not to mention, two really nice love scenes. I'm actually abstinent myself, but I do enjoy a good love scene, if it is done tastefully and makes sense to the plot. Oddly enough, neither of them were gratuitous, which makes me really happy.
