Alright, I recently got the Hollywood Video MVP thing. Meaning I can now get out a ton more movies than I used too. Excluding the most newest of realeases though.
So please recommend some good movies to me and everyone else here Any genre(other than porn of course ) I'll watch just about anything: Animated, Sci-Fi, Horror, Drama, Forigen, ect.
Even recommend some laughable bad movies. I enjoy watching a pure piece of s*** from time to time So go ahead!

Hmmm. . . Well, if you're into that really bizarre sci-fi kind of thing, Immortel might be worth a look. Just be forewarned, the primary plot is bland as hell; it's the secondary conflict between Allgood and the Spirit of Nikopol that's interesting. It's worth seeing as one of the first Digital Backlot movies (Sin City, Casshern, and Sky Captain and the World of Tomorrow were the others). They might not have it since it's a relatively obscure title, but if they do, go for it.
Beyond that though, I wouldn't know what to recommend since I A) Don't know what you've seen, and B) Don't know what you like. *shrugs*
Have you seen Snatch and Boiler Room?

That's, uh. . . That's a pretty long list of favorites.
Well, if you liked Pulp Fiction, I recommend Snatch, and if you liked Fight Club, I recommend Boiler Room.
I also see a lot of Miyazaki films on the list, in which case I strongly, and I mean STRONGLY recommend Pom Poko. It's easily comparrable to Bambi and Fox & The Hound (which I noticed are also on your list) in that it's cute but highly emotional. Anybody that can watch the scene with the ship sailing away without feeling at all emotional, in my opinion, needs to see either a psychiatrist or an excorsist.

Three more I just thought of.
The Eye. The only drawback in this movie is the fact that it's subtitled. As far as psychological horrors go, this is easily the best.
Enron: The Smartest Guys in the Room.
And I could have sworn it would have appeared on somebody's list by now: Wallace & Gromit: Curse of the Were Rabbit.

Two more.
I haven't seen Wallace & Gromit, so I can't recommend it.
Something that I actually found creepy: Sphere
And something for anyone who's ever wondered what Patrick Swayze, Wesley Snipes, and John Leguizamo would look like in a dress (very pretty, actually): To Wong Foo: Thanks For Everything, Julie Newmar

*nods* The Island was a waste of a good plot. Not the worst case of a good idea gone bad, but they still could have done a lot more than just a cheesy dick flick.Silverclaw wrote:The first half of The Island was pretty good. Then if turned into an action movie with big explosions. A pity.
Does anyone remember the movie Gattaca? That's a great example of how sci-fi can be good without being explodey.
And I've noticed a lot of horrors in the mix, so I'll list all the other movies besides The Eye that gave me the willies:
Event Horizon.
And I'm surprised I haven't seen Silence of the Lambs and Hannibal listed and/or recommended.
And while it didn't give me the willies, I'd recommend to anyone that enjoys a classic horror the movie Darkness Falls. Most of the terror moments are just the lead specter leaping out at people, but damn, they sure showed the rest of Hollywood how it's done!

Baraka, it's kind of like Koyaanisquatsi with a sense of humour. Beautiful movie. You're going to faint when they enter the Crystal Shrine in Baghdad. Flyover shots of Mt. Kailash and a nice kecak sequence that doesn't appear on the soundtrack CD (also worth getting).
Kronos. Nice twist on vampirism.
The Seventh Gate, with Johnny Depp of course "Mumbo Jumbo! Mumbo Jumbo! Mumbo Jumbo!"
Robot Carnival.
The Ghost and the Darkness.
City of Lost Children (French subtitles)
'90s Remake of Cabinet of Dr. Caligari, if you can find it. Exceedingly surreal but funny as hell once you get with the program. "ECT, my three favourite letters of the alphabet! Pea-cheeeeeee..."
Any I'm forgetting?
Sea Biscuit.
Chocolat.
Casanova. That played here recently, brilliant film, didn't get enough publicity so it died and went out of the theatres and into Sleepersville fast. What a shame
Has anyone mentioned The Dark Crystal yet?
Or Fear And Loathing in Las Vegas?
Twelve Monkeys.
Oooh! Russian Ark. It's a documentary about the Hermitage Museum in St. Petersburg, they did it all in one continuous pan, no cuts, no edits, Russian subtitles, a walk through the Hermitage's (and Russian) history. It's a long movie too, but DEFINITELY snag it if you find it, if you see nothing else SEE RUSSIAN ARK.
Toys. Not "Toy Story," Toys with Robin Williams.
