OMG! Everytime i see this trailer I just start bawling my eyes out! I just can't help it, and I don't know why.
If it weren't so cheesy looking, I might contemplate going to see it.

Yeah, nothing close to "Snow Dogs." I just got back from it; won't say it was excellent but I definitely didn't feel my money/time wasted
Before the film started I had to suffer through the requisite "Coming Soon"s. Three of the five previews had poop gags in them. I think it's starting to become a hallmark of films in the Aughties, gotta have something scatological to please the audience!
Fortunately, 8 Below had nothing of the sort. That caught my respect immediately, because the animals were respected. They were portrayed with grace and every last one of them has more charisma than the humans.
What really made it for me was that it was beautifully-shot. The scenery is magnificent. I read some online user reviews and they all say, "Don't bring the toddlers!" I agree because they don't shy away from blood. We see leopard seals fighting, we see a leopard seal up close — yeah, lot closer than you'd probably want to be yourself — and the scene with the leopard seal is the film's big intensity. It's not a sweet Disney flick, they played the story.
The audience was good, too. All adults and this was the after-dinner showing, fairly early. Ninety percent of the audience stayed through the creds, which I personally dig. The credits weren't horrifically long, either and the names didn't race by in order to keep the scroll within the confines of the end title music.
Don't worry that it's going to be a sappy Disney flick, go see it. It's good

This movie was excellent but i cried through most of it. ( Mostly cuz for some reason animal death in movies effects me more than people deaths). It is a sad movie but very good. It did have some disney moments but that isn't necessarily a bad thing. My only gripe is if i was the main character i don't care if i would have lost my arm i would have stayed with my dogs until they got a chance to leave.

Just came back from the movie... loved it
Now i'm pretty macho when it comes to movies, but I'll abmit it... this one got me crying towards the end, a battle of emotional attrition and they eventually won through. It's so redeeming to watch a huskie movie that acually does the dogs credit, especally from Disney after that astocity, Snow Dogs
Yeah... same here, but I wouldn't blame the guy for leaving his dogs... I mean, his own injuries aside, the docter guy who fell through the ice may have died or gotten his leg amputatted if he didn't make a choise fast. And with the idea that the pilot girl was gonna head right back and pick them up prolly put his mind at ease at least enought to get on the plane without them. Quite a series of unfortunate events really... it's sad, but at least it has a happy ending.
