Happy Easter
Ah, Easter the special time of year where we celebrate the death and ressurection of Jesus Christ
But whats with the bunnies and eggs? is it some marketing scheme or what.
I personally view Easter as being a religious holiday and nothing else, but people glorify it with bunnies and eggs, we should celebrate it for the religious factors not the chocolate.
Thats just my peice of the pie, other then that.
HAPPY EASTER!

Happy Easter Everywolf!
Hmmm...the bunnies and eggs are stuff that were used to get more pagans to convert to Christanity easier, I heard. Spring time=New life and all that good stuff. Heard something about rabbits being sacrificed to the old gods around this time or something back then as well.
Same goes for things like Christmas trees. To appeal to those who used to whorsip trees.

A lot of the strange holiday pairings, and the bunnies and eggs with the death of Christ over Easter are a classic example, are the results of efforts though the centuries to assimilate Pagans into Christianity. Pagans refused to stop celebrating holidays, so the Christians decided to adopt the same symbols. Over time, they became cuter and more marketable as the modern era moved in. Jehovah's Witnesses refuse to celebrate holidays at all for this reason. We Pagans on the other hand find it funny that our symbols are being thrown about by people who have no idea what they are. It's akin to going to the homeworld of alien invaders and discovering them breaking bread and wine, and giving up things for Lint.
Taking a Gestalt approach, since it's the "in" thing...

But it's not easter unti... *looks at clock* Oh hell. It's easter now.
I knew about the whole pagan symbols bit, but the only reason I even remember the holiday at all is because of the candy. Yay sugar! =3

Today was both good and bad...bad in that we got socked with the weirdest weather I've ever seen...basically, we got EVERYTHING. Snow, rain, hail, sun, wind, fog, you name it, we had it. No joke, I got up to look at the sunrise and saw snow on the hilltops
Good in that my horse competed in the Dressage Suitability class and came out with another first place!! This after blowing his canter takeoff not twice but thrice, in front of the judge! But apparently the judge was grading on a bell curve and he did well enough to pwn the place.
Good also in that I baked a beautiful chicken-provolone-apple stromboli for the gang at the barn and it was promptly devoured. My cooking chops haven't dulled!
So now...long day, tired tired, must lay down and digest and rest...
