"Mowgli looked down with a smile, and imitated perfectly the sharp chitter-chatter of Chikai, the leaping rat of the Dekkan, meaning the dholes to understand that he considered them no better than Chikai. The Pack closed up round the tree and the leader bayed savagely, calling Mowgli a tree-ape. For an answer Mowgli stretched down one naked leg and wriggled his bare toes just above the leader's head. That was enough, and more than enough, to wake the Pack to stupid rage. Those who have hair between their toes do not care to be reminded of it.

"Mowgli caught his foot away as the leader leaped up, and said sweetly, 'Dog, red dog! Go back to the Dekkan and eat lizards. Go to Chikai thy brother — dog, dog — red, red dog! There is hair between every toe!' He twiddled his toes a second time..."

Lycanthropy as an agent to increase bushiness of eyebrows

No. I don't think lycanthropy should make the eyebrows suddenly get bushier than they normally would have been. However, if the candidate already plucked their eyebrows, they would have to do so more often, because I think lycanthropy would make the hair grow faster. But, overall, I don't think having lycanthropy would make them any hairier, ANYWHERE, including eyebrows, than they normall would have been. They'll just have to get their hair cut more often, etc.

A unibrow I could picture happening in some instances, if only because some people have them naturally and it wouldn't be too farfetched for someone's eyebrows to get slightly bushier and, in a case like mine where they're already huge, connect. Hairy palms, however, are a definite no.

I like many of the effects in the RPG The World of Darkness(I think its called) Werewolf: The Forsaken. A 'wolf has better camoflage than that. A 'wolf is physically indistinguishable from a buff human.

I don't have an unibrow, but I have several friends who do. It is more common in my country than it is in the US, as far as I can tell.

With the advent of electric razors as well as blades, the unibrow ends up becoming a personal choice. A matter of grooming.

We all groom at least once a day, don't we ?

As for the poll. I vote "Other".

The palms and the eyebrows are not a useful indicator.

I do have another telltale, which humans cannot directly detect, but which their dogs and other werewolves should spot very quickly.

An unusual scent.
The change, does it wrack the bones and rend the flesh ? Yes, indeed it does. But is this pain and agony alone ? No, in fact hardly at all. It is the Sacrament of the Moon. The flesh flows and so do the endorphins. It is, in truth, the agony ecstatic; The Pain That Is Pleasure

The palm is covered with glabrous skin, which doesn't grow hair.
Spider Man NOO! :p

Unibrows, eh? Why wouldn't the rest of their face be hairy? Egad! So the furry human wolfman is actually the human form of a shaggy dog! :P

on a more sierious note... No I do not think werewolves should have unibrows unless they were born with unibrows. And as Figorou so cruely mentioned( :p ) the palm doesn't grow hair. [/quote]

Actually, most people ARE born with unibrows. It's just customary to pluck them out. Those of us who escaped our parents' tweezers are the ones with unibrows today.

I figure that they're common among werewolves because of the regeneration--plucking lasts perhaps a few weeks, maybe a few months. Shaving is a quick way to lose that unwanted werewolfy look, but, it doesn't last. It comes back after the next shift.

So why do my palms keep getting hairy?

Wolf whiskers and being stranded in the past

Post by Scott Gardener »

<off>
I'm seeing the episodes as they show on the Sci-Fi channel, which is WAY behind, appearantly. I've seen the pics of the ninth Doctor, but I'm still on the eighth. I also think it's funny how they call it the "first season," when the first season of Dr. Who was a mid-sixties black-and-white! I may be behind, but not that much!
</off>

Wolves indeed have whiskers; they're just not as popular as, say, cat whiskers, because they're not as obvious from a distance. But, they're there.
