Oh, really...

I wouldn't be too quick to dismiss an entire web community, especially one that big. A lot of respectable people use it for publicity. Not surprisingly, it's also a heavily used marketing tool, much to MySpace's chagrin.
Still, MySpace is certainly developing a reputation as a trendy pop-culture hangout for teenagers, and I personally suspect it's going to have a short-lived peak as a "web 2.0" site, until "web 3.0" comes out.
But, that's not why I'm avoiding it myself. I'm avoiding it because it's redundant to what is already available--I've already got a LiveJournal going, which basically does the same thing, except for the picture and music hosting, which is available with any "web 1.0" web site host.
Something else likely will replace MySpace as the trendy front-runner, the way Google ousted Yahoo! as the popular and trendy search engine.
Of course, I'm not going to rant about how people on MySpace need to get a life, because, anyone who spends time posting on the Internet about how people on MySpace need to get a life needs to get a life. (See Infinite Cat project.)

Taking a Gestalt approach, since it's the "in" thing...

Myspace: Ill be home one night and think 'I really SHOULD check that Myspace.' But, since not many people really talk to me, and it's an effort to log into it, and there's little to do, and I can't be bothered blogging...the list goes on.
I'm a lazy, lazy girl.

Considering all the "publicity" certain aspects of it have been getting in the news as of late, I agree with a friend of mine's opinion of the place...
"Overall, with the exception of a very small number of sites in it, Myspace is mostly just a giant digital roach-motel for suicidals, crappy bands, and perverts."
