Another option so far not mentioned: how about hosting a Pack meet? If you're way out there in rural Nebraska or live in The Republic Formerly Known As Yugoslavia, then invite us to come to you. Or, as implied by a few of the above posts, start your own local chapter. Afterall, werewolf fandom is contageous...

Yeah, they really try to get you for that. The WiFi for the Hilton next to the hotel we were staying at (the Hale Koa) was $9/day for wifi access. The in-room ethernet was about the same price.

Needless to say, I passed on it. Luckily there was a terrace with a view of downtown Honolulu.

Of course, it's nowhere near as bad as the internet rates in the airport. Don't even get me started on those.

Granted, you have to have broadband, so it wouldn't work for those of you with dial-up. But, it might be a decent workaround for those of you in Australia or the Netherlands, who can't make it to meeting in Texas because of that planet in the way.
Yep. I participate in Skype confrence calls all of the time. I forget what the maximum number of participants is... I believe it's 5 or so.

Train Tickets hmmm never considered that option....Man i want to go i really love conventions they are so much fun!!!

Do we have any idea which day we would want to meet up or are we not sure yet? Or will everyone be going for all three days, just trying to get a feel for what everyone else is planning.

Weird that the Hilton and truck stops charge fees. A lot of hotels and coffee shops now offer WiFi for free.

I had my Sony PSP with me when I was at the TA truck stop.

That's at least a lot cheaper than the access I've seen. The airport was $0.15/min to use the terminals there.

Didn't stop one guy from looking at porn though...

Some truck stops offer points when you buy diesel. You can use them to buy anything inside the store. Including internet access. If the trucking company pays for the diesel, the points I get is free. :D

Ugg... I've been gone too long... missed too much... anyways... I don't think I would be able to go to Texas or any other easter state (eastern when looked at from CA) California is really my only option... and seeing as how I live too far south in the middle of nowhere... I don't think I'll be attending a meet, unless I have plenty of money, and my friend/s agree to go with me... and that's a long-shot..

Quick question.
Funds are a bit tight right now, so I'm not sure if I can make it to the con or not, but I'd still like to meet other pack members. What are the chances of everybody going out to eat or just to a park to hang out or something outside of the con(but still in the area) one of the evenings?

Hmmm...... we did have one problem when we all went out to eat one evening last year.

The chinese resturant we went to ran out of food. All they had left was fried rice. The reason why they ran out is because lots of con goers went there to eat. I'm not sure what its going to be like this year. I'll be suprised if A-kon provides food for the Pack meet this year.

It would be fun if we could all make badges out of our forum icons with screen names on them to identify eachother.

My badge name will be this name. That is one of the reasons I changed it.
