We started the day with frost on the ground. Weather report says we're getting temps in the low 20s tonight. Temps in the upper 40s today.

Me no care. Got baseboard heater near the bed, kitty, chai, down comforter and featherbed. I won't be cold tonight! :)

Here in southern "Peoples Democratic Republic of Kalifornia" it's nasty and overcast and the temps are down in the sixties. Lousy weather; but it'll be Chamber-of-Commerce weather next week.
We don't really have seasons here, drat it. We've had winters run from the high 90's to the low 30's in the same month. Ditto for Summer.
I was almost 30 before I saw snow that stayed for more than fifteen miutes.
I sort'a envy you folks...

Just got back from walking the 1/2 mile from class. Currently -7 outside but wind chill of -19. Feels like I got a free sex change operation out of it so I am gonna go sit by the heater to try and reverse that..... :shudder:

Edit: WHY IS IT GETTING COLDER? -8 now feels like -25 *cries* hmmm, I need to tell my room mate that it is not *that* cold when he leaves for class.

As the Atmosphere warms up, the weather swings at the start of the warming will be increased.
Plus, even at -7degrees, there can be moisture in the air, and moisture will carry away heat much more rapidly than dry air.
By the time you're my age, you'll look back at all this with fond memories.

Punxatawny Phil said we're getting an early Spring.

Right now, that doesn't seem likely. We're supposed to get a nationwide cold snap of Arctic air. We have frost on the ground right now and this morning, some parts of the county read +18F. Single digits just sixty miles east of here.

I suspect that "Puxatawny Phil" is on the take, probably from the Chamber of Commerce.

It's freezing here with temperatures under the double digits and WIND! And gas is done to 2 bucks which is good.

I've got a snowday over here!

And it's amazingly cold. The days reach around a high in the -Teens, and that's not including windchill factor, which will take it farther into the negatives. I'm surprised how much snow we seem to be getting this year, it seems like a long time since I've actually had a snowy winter.

Besides what it does to my sinuses, I'm not complaining. I love snow.
:D

(everybody, do a snow dance tonight! I don't want school tomorrow, either. *winks*)

Wolves are at their best in the snow...

Believe it or not, we're getting springlike weather here. The non-fruiting pear trees in front of my apartment are starting to bloom and I could go barefoot out onto the balcony. I just bought a bareroot rose a couple days ago and I'm going to go plant it later today.

I'm starting some seeds, too. I'll have a nice herb pot in my kitchen window.

Eh, we're back to a typical midwinter Oregonian pattern. It's supposed to RAIN (finally) for the next five days.

Gas prices are kinda nice. They're ranging between $2.30 and $2.50.

We've just been promised a weekend of rain here in the Land where the talentless make movies.
Ugh! I just saw Blood and Chocolate; again: my ladyfriend thought it was a treat, after I fixed her a very special dinner.
I keep reminding myself that it's the thought that counts.

What's worse: SHE thought it was "so sad, so sweet"

Why do I get all the "Special" ones??

What scares me is that she had read both manuscripts: Wulfen Blood and Wulfen Honor, and thinks they're great.

Weather today was beautiful. Upper 50s, high cloudcover, calm wind, just enough humidity to keep it comfortable.

Saw the gas prices at Fred Meyer's today, it's around $2.23 - $2.43 before the gas discount card docking. That saves you about a dollar per tank-up. Unfortunately I don't have $35 freed up, so I didn't go for it.

FIgure on paying more for Gas in March: that's when the Refineries shut down and switch over to "Summer" blend. I think they put sunscreen in it.
Gas, right now, is at about $.2.30 - $2.55 per gallon, depending...
Oddly, Diesel is more expensive than Gas, now. It tends to stay at the same price, though, while Gas goes up and down.
Interesting bit of trivia about Diesels- That "clatter" isn't the engine: it's the fuel injectors! Some of the newer electronic systems are as quiet as Gas engines.
The Weather is being coy: just when you and the weatherman expect Rain, it's wonderful and sunny and in the high sixties. Then, when it's supposed to be dry, the Gods throw a Beer Party in Heaven. Currently, the Weather Rock outside my window is more accurate than the Weatherman is...and it's just a rock...

Yay! Winter Storm Warning!

"TOTAL SNOW AND SLEET ACCUMULATIONS BY THE TIME THE PRECIPITATION ENDS COULD RANGE FROM 5 TO 10 INCHES...WITH ABOUT A TENTH OF AN INCH OF ICE ACCRETION POSSIBLE DURING PERIODS OF FREEZING RAIN.

STRONG WINDS ARE ALSO POSSIBLE. THIS WILL MAKE TRAVEL VERY HAZARDOUS OR IMPOSSIBLE."

Now my boss doesnt close for anything but if its a blizzard I think she might!

:D
