I think temporary tattoos is a great idea, but I've seen them mostly given out as a promotional rather than sold. Unless we got a whole sheet of different designs...

Hear, hear! Hats! Wolf-ear hats may be a bit too gimmicky though; unless the movie really takes off.

Then again, I see a lot of chicks with cat-ears these days...

I was wondering. There is at least 2 ways of purchasing these items.

1st way

The company doesn't make the item until its ordered. (I order 2 shirts, they make it and send it out to me.)

2nd way.

You go to the company and have them make 100 or so T-shirts. We order them through you.

Which one will it be?

Unless you have an investor to front you a bunch of money to drop into a project, I'd say "make as ordered" as opposed to "make a bunch and hope they sell."

Or you could make a short run — say, 40 shirts, 20 of this, 15 of that, 65 of the other, see what sells and when the short runs run out — go with what sold best and drop the ones that didn't.

Ok - with the shirts - I could go through a company to do shirts 'on demand', but prices per shirt are a lot higher. If I do runs (the larger the better), I can drop the price per shirt, until I hit the 1000 shirt run plateau.

This will not be for everything. There are some things that I'll just do 'on demand' as I run out of my own money to do this. Where it suffers is the price though.

As far as the 'investor' goes, that investor is me. The more people buy, the larger runs can be done = better prices on the next item. If there is enough demand for one thing, I'll do additional runs. I can do small runs (usually a dozen shirts at a time), or do individual shirts, but the price for those will be considerably higher than the initial run.

I'll make a dozen shirts to start with, for the test run, out of my own pocket. That way, I can find some beautiful Penthouse women (or others) to get pictures of them in the shirt for the Packwere website. Yes, I'm a draemer. Once all that's done and the shopping cart is up, then we'll work on pre-orders (for a week or two prior to me forking over the money for the initial run). Right now the initial run will be for 51 shirts + pre-orders.

It does seem penny-wise to buy a bunch of stuff up front with the thought of selling it, but I know from experience that just because you have something for sale, however cool you think it is, it isn't a guaranteed sale (especially now, in the soft economy). Selling things "on demand" is more economically sustainable. You're not out thousands of dollars if the sale falls through and it doesn't move: you're only out about $50, which is more easily recovered from.

Another way to do it is gather a definite base of people, collect checks/m.o.'s from them, and let that be your startup money. And don't do it on spec — wait until you have the physical checks in hand! I'd shop around to printers, see what their various prices/minimum orders would be, then put out to the group and start collecting checks/m.o.'s. When you have enough checks to cover the minimum, go in and produce. If more people want them, you just do a second run.

I've that already. However, I post about what I'm doing so that everyone is in the loop. Most printers don't do on-demand, and the ones that do (like cafepress) charge you a boatload of money.

As to the second part of your post, that's the idea!

There is one thing I don't like about that.

Lets say I wanted a Pack logo on a coffee mug. I send the money, then find out later that item can't be made because nobody else wanted one.

Yes. There will be some stuff being made on-demand. Such as coffee mugs (if only one member wants it). Right now I know of two people that want a Pack car magnet. Fig and myself.

OMG!!! I just thought of something!!

I would LOVE to see a PACK beer stein!!!

Like these!!
http://www.steincenter.com/

On the stein, I would like to see the Pack logo as a crest with two werewolves next to it.

Like this.

Image

(That crest idea would make a cool T-shirt!!)

Have the werewolf look something like the picture below on the crest but with a tail.

Please PLEASE say these can be made!! I'd buy one instead of a coffee mug!!!

The bottom one is from a T-shirt that was posted in a thread I think back in July.
This one, I think:

You don't drink out of it. Its just for display.

I have several steins when I was stationed in Germany. (Army)

Are there going to be any embroidered t shirts or are they all going to be prints?
And are different sizes going to be availible.
Like for instance, I wear a L to XL (I like the XL for sleep shirts)
I hate when I goto buy tshirts and find a bunch of small and mediums.
After three kids I dont wear a small anymore :P

Put me down for a shirt, a mug, a ball cap, a car magnet, and another shirt.

Both would be good, IMO. A polo shirt with a small Pack logo where the Izod alligator used to go would be awesome, because then I could wear it to work!
