Past several decades, there's been a veritable jihad going on there. It's just now settling down since the Irish Republican Army saw what bastards Al Qaeda were and decided to get a life, for the interim. The Catholic (green) Irish want to take back Northern Ireland from the Protestant (orange) Irish and chase 'em all back to England. London got hammered by the IRA several times before Al Qaeda hit 'em last summer. All Christian Violence — All Day, All Night. They referred to it euphemistically as "The Troubles." U2's composed several songs about it.

mmm...I guess I'd have to abolish denominations, then.

Personally, I wouldn't mind seeing the Snakes (the white Irish?) come back and drive the Christians out of Ireland...that'd settle everything...

*nods* Ask the same thing at a snowboarder's forum or a
Matrix fan page and I'm sure the answers will all be just as similar to each other but in a completely different way.

Oh the country, nice, peaceful, and such quiet scenery and nature to watch and enjoy.
....boring....
I don't like being around a lot of people much, but I still need them. I need shops to go to, fast food to eat, movies to see. I need people to watch, laugh at, or maybe talk to.
I'd like a house off the side of the town with a nice amount of land. I can go around town and enjoy things, but when I'm tired go back to my home and be all alone. I think I already know where that is, right around where I live. I'm happy right here.
I need a nice house in the country, but I also need civilization.
(Plus really, like I'd ever move away from Ohio!)

Yeah, house on the edge of town is good for at least that — I wouldn't want to give up my symphony, movies and brewpubs either — but the problem with that is the city tends to grow. We haven't quite wrapped our heads around sustainable development, it's all about expansion. I don't want to drive out my access road one morning and find someone's building a strip mall right across the street.
The other thing is, with that Supreme Court ruling on eminent domain, urban sprawl is even more likely. Strip mall would be bad, but I wouldn't want my cherry-pear-hazelnut-apple-pomegranate-lemon orchard, lotus pond and vinyard buried under another Wal-Mart.
