You're missing the bigger question: Why would someone
want to read such ugly text?

As if werewolves as a concept in and of themselves is not in the least little bit silly ?
No way!

I just realized something...
It's not that werewolves could read, it's that werewolves shouldn't read.
Having a big wolf's snout increases a werewolf's chances of getting papercuts on his nose.

I can see a werewolf getting a paper cut on his nose and start limping away with his tail tucked between his legs.

Worse yet, can you imagine how he'd feel if someone helped him out by putting iodine on it?

In my opinion, werewolves will be able to read. Maybe in Gestalt or wolf form, he will rely more on other senses like smelling and hearing, not like humans that rely basically on sight. But the capacity to identify letters and words will be there. I don't like to think werewolves will have to be illiterate after shifting. That would only contribute to the "werewolves are mindless beast" concept.
and besides, what a great movie scene would be a human accidentaly entering a werewolves' house and seeing a werewolf in Gestalt form sitting in a coach wearing glasses and reading a Shakespeare novel. The werewolf would turn his face to stare the human with a WTF glare.
P.S. My first posting...YAY!
