I could swing the convention money (especially if we get more than ten and go in for their group discount deal), but it's the food and hotel that would kill me. And I have to work on the weekend
Maybe if I'd known about it earlier I could plan better but June's coming up too fast
Maybe those of us further west can plan on a mini-meet at FurCon? I promise not to flake out on account of chemotherapy this time

Do you always believe everything you see on tv? Even then you weren't paying attention, because it was a
private party, invitation only. Not all of us furs are into that. In fact, the majority of us aren't. Ask Terastas if you don't believe me.
Pack meet...I'd love to go, but I'm another one of those broke youngins. Unless you can get some rich dude to pay for my travel expenses and I can sweet talk the neighbor into taking care of my eight (5 horses, 2 dogs, cat...yeah, eight) animals I can't go.

Oh my goodness that was the stupidest episode.....
Yeah, I make giant lingere to put on my fursuit then run around doing other furs.
I'm sorry, but the only redeeming quality of that episode was watching Rocky getting hit by a car in a raccoon suit!

(chuckles) Let me be blunt. There will be NO wild orgies, or anything of that nature.. I certainly dont have a fursuit, and wouldnt be wearing one if I did.. I'm happy to meet, and talk, and conceptualize, maybe read some from the script.. etc. etc. take photos.. and the like.
I have been brushing up my knowledgs not only on Furry lifestyle, and fandom, but also Therians. animism.. and every space in between.. I respect them all for their own reasons. And have noticed a few common threads along them. All coming back to emotions, feelings, and desires, wishes, dreams.. and instincts. Whether you're a furry, a therian, a pshifter, or just plain fan.. We all want a good werewolf movie, something with substance.. And THAT is what binds us.
AB
And I have the one ring to rule them all.. (bbwawwhaahahahahahaha) no just kidding.. My ring says (cherry flavored) on it actually.

I think packmeets should happen all over the world.. doesnt mean that I can go to all of them. But I love to travel, so who knows.

A-Kon: Already coming. Indeed, Cathey and I are MOVING up there over the next few months. We are so up there it's not even funny.
A related note: Since, contrary to what the locals here say, Texas isn't the center of the universe, perhaps we should consider some way of organizing pack meets in several key locations where our numbers our greater. And, I wonder if there's a way to live webcast or at least video instant-message with those who can't make it? We've got Pack members in Australia, who probably aren't going to be able to fly to the other side of the planet that often.
Given how many pack members are in or near Texas, I do think it's a prime candidate for a place to meet. Dallas/Fort Worth or San Antonio are good, centralized locations.

Yeah, I like the idea of multiple locations.
I'd definately make it to one in DFW area, but yeah, non Texan packmembers (poor souls) need the opportunity to get to a meet too.

Yeah, but the price of admission is the smallest amount. You have to count in:
- Hotel, which starts at $142/night, you'd be looking at ~$750 for the convention including incidentals,
- Food, another $25 - $40 a day (we're up to $850-$900 now; and as for me, it'd probably be closer to $50 a day because you couldn't pay me enough to subsist on fast food for four days),
- Parking (though if they're yanking $165 a night with tax outta ya, they'd BETTER include that, Pilgrim!),
- Gas if you're driving,
- Airline ticket, in the high season, if you're not,
- Train or bus ticket if you're not and have time on your hands.
The Wyrm is in the details. Anubis's figure of $1500 is dead on (good math there, keed

)

$750?
Well, I spent under $500 last year. Thing is, I didn't buy much in the dealers room.
Food, I did eat at the hotel once or twice. Its hard to believe a sandwich and a drink can run up to $12. Ouch!! I'm going to bring my own food this time!!!
What sucks is that Parking is extra. And to make it even worse, internet access is also extra. A cheaper hotel has free wireless i-net!!
I won't know how much I'll be spending this year until I get home from A-kon. With gas prices as they are now, who knows if its going down or up by the time A-kon rolls around.

Need to pull out the ol' Pack map. See where the highest concentrations of members are and such

Did you share a room? Did you stay at the con hotel?
I'm able to swing BayCon because my friend is one of the panelists, he's putting me up at his place, and he's a good cook. So I'm crashing and breakfasting with him and brown-bagging my own con food as well. The nice thing about the Doubletree is the rooms for BayCon are only $85/up to four persons, and parking is free. But I'd still be paying in the mid-hundreds to go to the Con if it weren't for Kevin. As for the gas, I'm probably going to be stocking up my Costco cash card and tank up there along the way.

Okay, that would explain it...
Then again, prices have gone up everywhere, on everything...
