They can post in the "Kennel" until one of the Admins decides they're a Wolf ( or something similar) and lets them in with the rest of us. That would mean perhaps a two day hold at most, with a form E-Mail that lets them know they're in...
Would it be that difficult, even? ??

because if you send eveyryone there we might get that one or two good guys that might ... and i quote "have that one great idea that will change how freeborn is made or how we all view werewolves as we know it"

and he will be stuck there for aday and decde that he is not important enough to post here and take his/her/its business else where :)

No matter what we try...there is always a way around it.

Oh man. Its a cute idea but Im glad there wasnt anything like that when I got here. Two days of not being allowed in the actual forums and I probably wouldnt have stuck around. It is a good way to cute down on members though. And I like that you called it "the Kennel"...very clever. :D

Heh. I wonder what would happen if someone were to just happen to find two spam bots that weren't working together, and then happen to use a temporary 10-minute email address (Like this) to contact them and happen to mention to the sites that the other site is interested in their products and happen to sit back, laughing as they complain they're being spammed.

The forum gains more popularity, and thus more nasty posts. Just look at any big forum, and you'll notice that it is more likely to be flooded with nasty spam and other s*** then more 'underground' community forums.

Thus far, most of the forum is locked to non-members, forceing "guests" and "spambots" to only post in the sections viewable without logging in. You'd think a spambot is smart enough to enter a section once registered, but they typically write their spam posting scripts automatically before entering a forum. Therefore, the bot is unaware of the other forum sections. At least that narrowed down the search pattern a bit.

Also, Figarou was kind enough to add myself and Shadow Wulf to the moderator roster, to further increase our chances of catching spambots in all hours of the day. I always keep an eye on the Spam Report thread, and for suspicious looking thread titles.

Forcing approval from administration for posting is too much work for this small staff. After Freeborn is released, I expect that this forum will be flooded with new members. The slew of sections we already have will just barely cover the new population in my opinion. Having to hand pick each and every one would be an endless chore.

As for where we stand today, the Spam Report thread I set up gives every member the opportunity to help with a single informative post. All that has to be worried about is if one of the moderators is on. I check twice a day, and Joker seems to live here, so that's just about covered.
:D
