I will pray for him. To whatever's out there; to Mother Nature to let him live. If he is a good person of good heart, I'm assuming so, then She will try her hardest. For now though, you can really be with him; making him laugh and feeling good about himself and knowing you love him will aid him a lot; he will be able to wait longer with less pain, high hopes and laughter is amazing medicine. You could also try calling (If you're into this stuff) a spirit animal or totem or something to look after him.

I will most certainly keep you and your family in my thoughts. I've lost both my parents and I miss them all the time.
Don't be afraid to get second opinions or search out the very best medical care, there are new procedures all the time.
There are clinics and hospitals out there that do offer better care and surgeries than anywhere else in the country.
The web is a wealth of information!
