Do you really consider the Pack Family?

I love this place myself and I dislike messageboards usually. I'm always wary of attack, I'm constantly on guard and prefer peace than anything. I've seen a lot of subtle attacking, and that's what messageboards do, family, pack, or not, I guess. But the attacking here is certainly far less than I've ever experienced on any board.

But I'm not sure if I consider the pack 'family'. I like you all as internet friends and perhaps would consider meeting you; but to me, family only involves my few closest friends (who I jam with or see every day) and my actual bloodline family. I guess that's how I see fmaily literally. Eventually I will find a band who is also my family and pack. But I make close friendships offline, not online, so it's nothing personal!



As for metaphorically, I guess maybe one day I could consider this place as an internet pack, but at the moment, I'm still too new to it all, I think. I've always been a drifter and outsider, and that's how I make it myself, so that's my own choice.

But I respect you all a lot and this is a great board. Just my two cents on the topic from my point of view.

I think you're all wonderful people, and you all get along, maybe with some fights occasionally, but you do consider yourself a family...families argue!

Indeed Scott and I don't mind changes at all, but the negitve changes like in people additudes about things..People get so aggrivated when there ideas aren't seen and heard, even responded to.

People are listening though an we all have ideas on how we'd like one thing and it can't just be about one person. This is a community and in such settings things will butt heads, but in the end it's the Boss (Anthony Brownriggs) Who will chose what goes and what stays.

I agree with you on the point that if something is wrong with a pack member you worry..I do it too..There's not a thing wrong with having concern for one another..


To the Pack
That's just how some people are.The world really does need more caring folks in it.. Even if there's nothing you can do about it, it still messes with you. I'm not say everyone should do what Scott, Myself or a few select other do, but it's just if someone has a concern or they need to talk, let them do so..It hurts when family or friends aren't there for you..

I'd have to disagree with that statement. Personally I found that out and I know a few other have as well. It's not funny and it's down right rude. People are too focused on what they believe is a true factor and will defend it anyway possible growing nasty and selfish on it..

Many a times I've seen it an it sickens me as well how rude people really are.. The Pack did seem that way when it first started, but it's fading all too fast sadly..

The only way to make it better is for people to try to work on themselves seriously..If each person did that it would hopefully help to keep things as cooled as possible..

True we do, but it's not the same feeling I got when I was at the Pack Meet. That felt like Family there I have talked to a few select folks on here to consult to because I trust them an have shared things with them I couldn't share with my blood family because they would never truly understand. That's what I do like about this forum. I have met some awesome people and have made some friends I never thought I'd have It's truly an amazing thing.

we can't just leave the pack for rude comments, If this is Pack is a family, then like family we're suppose to stick together no matter what, even during hard times. Family dont abandon other family members, we must learn to comprimise not conflict.

I know no one is perfect, but I see folks who don't even try to compromise. They want the fights and arguements. They I guess ferel that it'll make them look superior than the other..Truth is they look like fools.

While some make the effort others try to confused that attempt..It's sad but true..

I know alot of folks love this place. I know I do or I would have left long ago after some of the comments I've gotten..If you only knew how many times I've wanted to leave, but just couldn't..I can't..I love this place greatly. Sadly some folks have left because of rude comments and you never see them again..

Tolerate them? What if it repeatedly happens? What if that person wants to keep it going when one is trying to have peace? As I said we don't need fights here.

As I stated before we have enough mess to deal with in everyday life as it is. I respect you have a strong family like you do..honestly I do.., but here is where you want to get away from the dily stresses..That's one of the reasons I come here. I can be with folks who think like I do about alot of things..

One of the main reasons that I treasure the pack so isn't just because of a movie.

Movies come and movies go. All of us over our tiny lives will see various things come and go, ebb and flow. Whether it be films, books, poems, or artwork.

I feel that i have to post considering i'm one of the jack asses she's talking about. I have rueined the "family" feeling here for some people with some of my immature rants and flame wars that caused me loose the respect i had from the mods and push away my closest friends here. by attacking people for simply the fact that they didn't see it my way, and once again i'm sorry for that, and i'm working on growing up and regain the friends and respect i lost.

To the Pack My main concern is that when someone is attacked it's possible that some one might leave and never return. I hate that things like that happen when it shouldn't and there's no reasons for it..Let just try to bring the pack back to how it used to be and that would work for everyone

Joker!! Where is your high spirit I use to know and love. Start being positive agien! true before it was a littel more cheery, but it happens, plus alot of the pack here are teens so we tend to have emotional outbreak or say something really dumb, thats what teens do.

And let me tell you about my family, my mom and my dad dont always get along well, infact they rarely do from what I can tell, it doesnt feel like they truly love or care for each other and yet they are still together. Atleast this family still cares for each other and respect each othre more. So yeah Im use to disagreements and some rudeness, its natural in my family.

Anyway, we should try to be more flexible and have more positibe reinforcement, but for me it all starts with you Joker, you have always been the most cheery one out of all of us, when things start heating up you try to calm things down with your irresistable attitude. Afer all you are the Jester, make us laugh. We're behind you all the way. For now on everyone should try thier best to not flame or say anything too rude.

And Joker I know your real sensitive about all this, but try not to always take things the wrong way, when someone says something that may seem rude, it may not always be their intentions. Ok? *hugs*

Thanks Shadow Wolf Yes I am very sensitive about heated things such as this, but I don't always do that. I only ever say anything when it's gone to far or I see it trying to heat up. It's just that there are other message boards that I have been to that aren't like this one at all. I really like this place and it's the first time I have ever seen this.....I don't know how to explain it. This place is...it gives me something to look forward to at the end of the school day. It's somewhere I want to be. On any other message board, i would look over what I wrote five times before posting becuase so many people would misinterperate it. Maybe I'm doing that again...

One thing that I think helped cement the idea in my own mind of The Pack as an extended family is actually meeting some of you in person. I've been going to A-Kon in Dallas annually since 1993, and I continue to go there to meet with close friends and to reconnect with my sister (and now her husband, whom she actually first met at the convention). So, meeting some of you there and finding out that Silver, Brownrigg's wife, is one of the convention staff leaders, was a bit of a treat.

I know that not all 2000 or so of you can actually make it over there, but in 2005 meeting just a few of you, and then in 2006 meeting a bunch more, it was really rewarding. I'm really looking forward to 2007. And, I'm also looking forward to doing some convention-hunting in the months to come, now that Cathey's hip surgery went smoothly and she can get around normally again. (I will not leave her behind!)

My biggest joke on me is that ... half the things people are admitting to here ... I've never seen. I've miraculously missed the forums they've been in.

I've -never- seen White Paw do anything bad.

And that's not to say that didn't occur, I'm just ignorant and it's funny

But I must say I prefer to be ignorant and out of the loop because it upsets me when people fight (I miss all of the fights at Uni too, there's apparently high school groups and popular groups at University, how immature, and guess what I haven't noticed any of it! Only this year has someone bitched to me about someone else, these are people in their mid 20s...I'm not usually important enough to b**** to or have in the loop and I love being that way, saves me so much drama).

If I've upset anyone, I certainly didn't intend to. I think the only person I've [spoiler]bitched[/spoiler] about is [spoiler]Jakkal[/spoiler]!

Messageboards will always be messageboards. But Joker is right; people will defend anything viciously because they can't see each other's body language. For example, if someone confronts me in real life, I apologise quickly and back away and lower my eyes. I hate being contronted. Online, I get uneasy still, but I'm more inclined to (Although normally I wish them a good day and leave or say sorry) argue back.

Sometimes when someone is also giving an opinion, someone takes it too literally and thinks there are subtle comments. For example, nothing in this post has a subtle attack...but many could take some of it as a subtle attack. I'm talking about all people in general, so no subtle attacks exist in this post on you guys!

Yeah so anyway...my mind has drifted...I still think this board is way friendlier than anywhere else I've been...I used to have the horrible job of owning a board and having to deal with people's complaints with each other.
