I think that pic looks great. You got your point across as something to see. I really enjoy artwork no matter if its done professionally or not. You did your best and thats what counts. Be proud of what you done. There is always someone out there that'll enjoy your accomplishments
I'll be looking forward to seeing you in that costume.

You know. I'm tempted on seeing Ep. 3 in the theaters. I normally wait for the DVD since I happen to have an awesome home theater.
As for Freeborn, I'm going to the theater to see it. I don't want to miss out on all the action when everyone else in here is going to see it at the theater.

This got me thinking about something...Figarou wrote:You know. I'm tempted on seeing Ep. 3 in the theaters. I normally wait for the DVD since I happen to have an awesome home theater. .
I just can't consider watching movies on a home theatre a substitute for seeing them on the "Silver Screen", if you know you want to see it.
True as it may be that the 18.2 surround sound (...I made up that number...don't bother correcting me...) in movie theatres usually does not sound as crisp as the 5.1 systems some people have at home, watching a film alone on a 27, 32 or even 57 inch screen just isn't as fun or memorable as seeing it on a 3 story tall screen, surrounded by enthusiastic moviegoers.
I am generally a very private person, but even I prefer to experience a film (a "good" or "...I don't care how bad it is, as long as stuff blows up" kind of movie) in a crowded screening room with sticky floors, squeaky seats, and big, sweaty guys on either side of me, taking up the arm rests...over sitting alone, in my little dungeon of a basement, squinting to see the film on my little flickering screen. (Even if I CAN turn up the Sub-Woofer as loud as I want.)
We, as modern human beings, can Get and Do just about anything now without ever leaving our homes or geting away from our Computer/Television screens.
Movie theatres are one of our last excuses to get out and rub shoulders with other human beings...people we would never get to know otherwise...and for an Hour or so, enjoy a pleasant experience together as fellow Film Enthuisasts. This is a sometimes aquard, but fun and healthy Social experience that I highly reccomend to EVERYONE.
Home theatres are great, but... *starts singing music from "Annie"* "...Lets...go to...the Movies!.....Lets...go see...the Show!...." */singing"*

Heh, if you only knew, Vuldari.
If you came to my house and experienced a top quality home theater setup, you'll never go to the theaters again.
Sure, going out is one thing. But after I finish watching my movie, I'm already home. When you get up from sitting in that uncomfortable seat for almost 2 hours, you're a bit sleepy, tired, and aching from not moving around. You're forced to stay in that seat until the film is over. Gotta use the bathroom? Tough!! You gotta hold it because you may miss something. And if you gotta fart, you can't let it out because the lady behind you may hit you with her purse. LOL!!!
Its good to go out once in a while to see a movie. Thing is, I hate looking for a parking spot. Waiting in long lines. Eating food that'll give me the runs and paying more than the cost of the movie ticket for it. I've been to a packed theater before. I had a guy sit next to me with the smell of grease. I knew he worked in the kitchen somewhere. But sheesh!! Take a shower and change clothes before going to the movies!! Yuck!!
The surround sound is much better in a home theater and I can prove it. I happen to have a THX demo DVD that has someone explaining the benifets of a THX home theater. I can convert it to windows media if you like to see it.
N E Who. Thats why I like to wait for a DVD when a film comes out. But this won't happen with Freeborn. You guys will be posting this and that about the film and I'll be left out. I'm going to see it in the theater when that day comes. And I WILL make the premiere if it happens to be here in Texas.

On the contrary...I have a few very wealthy relatives, at least one of which has a professionally installed Home Theatre system with THX certified 6.2 surround sound and a"gynormous" 50-inch Plazma screen.Figarou wrote:Heh, if you only knew, Vuldari.![]()

I've watched films and Superbowls on this setup...and drooled over the equiptment, wishing it could be mine...but having that experience is exactly what makes me so confident about my point.
As Unbelievably Cool as that is, I still would never say I'd rather skip the BIG Screen and wait to watch it at my uncles place on DVD. Even if the Picture IS sharper than any out-of -focus movie screen, and the sound IS totally more Kick-A** than even the best theatre I've been to ...the "experience" just is not the same.
...I usually don't eat or drink any snacks durring films any more, and am allways sure to use the restrooms before the movie starts. Snacks are just a distraction.
I still believe that it is totally worthwile to go...even if you have to sit behind the tall woman with bad BO sometimes...

Its actually 6.1Vuldari wrote:On the contrary...I have a few very wealthy relatives, at least one of which has a professionally installed Home Theatre system with THX certified 6.2 surround sound and a"gynormous" 50-inch Plazma screen.Figarou wrote:Heh, if you only knew, Vuldari.![]()

Having 2 subwoofers doesn't make it 6.2 I know because I have 2 subs in my setup. The .1 in 5.1/6.1 is not in stereo. Its mono. Since bass is hard to locate, having it in stereo is not needed. 2 small subs is better than one big sub.
There is no 6.2 on the DVD. You have DTS ES Discrete 6.1, DTS ES Matrix 6.1, DTS 5.1, Dolby EX 6.1 Dolby 5.1, Dolby 5.0, and Dolby 2.0

When you go to the theater and look at the speaker layout, you may think is 18.2 with all the speakers they have. Its actually 5.1/6.1Vuldari wrote:

The reason for so many speakers is that no matter where you sit, you can hear the surrounds. If only one speaker was used for the surround, and it's up at the front while you sit in the back, you won't be able to hear it.
Going back to the .2 (It's .1)
Two subwoofers can fill the room up with bass better than one subwoofer. (2 small subs=one big sub.) (2 big sub = a train going by) If you want, you can add tacticle transducers.
Tacticle transducers can be mounted to the sofa itself. It gives you a better "feel" of bass when it shakes. It is an electro-mechanical device that shakes. It is very similar to a loudspeaker woofer driver minus the cone. It is your basic physics damped mass on a spring model driven by an oscillating force (the voice coil). You hook tactile transducers up to an audio amplifier and mount them to a solid object. They can operate at higher frequencies but people typically cross them over at subwoofer frequencies and use them to reproduce bass. The buzz (; is that they vibrate and some people like that.

I know that is not an existing output standard. All I meant was that he had Two large Sub-Woofers, (One on each side of the screen), and I knew that you would know that was what #.2 meant. (Just typing the .2 saved me the trouble of typing out the explanation that he had TWO large, thumping sub-woofers, even though it is not at all neccesary to do so...)
...and before you try to correct me again, I don't think it was actually a Plasma screen, nor do I remember the exact dimensions of it, but it IS gigantic and Digital/Progressive scan, and the picture quality is awsome.
The word "plasma" just automatically rolled off my fingertips because I've come to associate the word with "Awsome New TV's". I don't even know if there are Plasma Screens on the market yet as big as the one He has. (The more I think about it... that monster tube was definately MORE than 50 inches diagonally. ...at least 60+. Projection, I think...which I normally don't like because of the limited viewing angle...but still awsome.)

Well, I have to see what it is in order to tell you.Vuldari wrote:...and before you try to correct me again, I don't think it was actually a Plasma screen, nor do I remember the exact dimensions of it, but it IS gigantic and Digital/Progressive scan, and the picture quality is awsome.
There is Plasma, LCD, DLP, CRT tube direct view, CRT rear projection, and CRT front projection.
Plasma screens have a short life compared to CRT. "Burn in" can happen a lot quicker, and the picture degrades. Its not worth having Plasma. The salesman doesn't tell you these things. All he is interested is making a sale.

I'm not stupid.Vuldari wrote:True as it may be that the 18.2 surround sound (...I made up that number...don't bother correcting me...) in movie theatres...
I know more than the average consumer about Audio/Video Home thatre systems. I KNOW what 5.1, 6.1, and 7.1 is (The source audio seperated into multiple specific/distinct channels, PLUS a special low frequency channel dirrected only to the sub-woofer)
{...7.1 is pointless, as Nothing wortwhile listening to uses it...}
I have been Shopping for and Product testing Both Audio and Video components for several years now to compare quality, function and Value between various types to determine what I should budget for to build my ideal Home Theatre without spending $$ on overpriced garbage, or things that I will want to upgrade 6-months after I buy it.
I happen to be MOST concerned, however, about the Monitor/Screen I wish to buy, with audio a secondary ("I'll settle for bargain quality 5.1 ...No THX certification neccesary, as long as it has Dolby Pro-Logic that will work with my GAMECUBE...") concern.
NO projection for me...and I'm wary about Plazmas that fade over time, and "Burn-In". I'm unashakably stubborn about Minute Picture detail, Black levels, Color vibrance (with NO "bleeding"), grainyness...etc, etc.... I'd prefer a "PERFECT" 32in., 16:9 monitor (even if it is 25 inches deep and weighs 850lbs.) over a "Very Good" 82inch Projection screen. I mostly use My H.E.S. to Play videogames. ...I only own about 12 DVD's, and most of them are cartoons.
PLEASE stop correcting my exagerations and oversimplifications, as I really just have no desire to talk "Technobabble" here...even If I do understand it all.
[Edit: HA... I tried to cover the whole video front before you could bite me about THAT too...but you beat me to it before I could finish my post.

Its good that you know this stuff. Would've been nice if you said so in the 1st place.

...I should have known better than to bring Up the subject of Home theatre with a HT nut if I didn't really want to talk about it...
I do the same thing whenever I stumble across a conversation about Home Console Gaming.
"...OOhhhhh....Have you heard that the X-box 360 will come out 4th quarter 2005...and the Revolution will be backwards compatable with Gamecube...and the PS3 will use Blue-Ray discs..." *continues to ramble off everything he knows like a lunatic*
(...oh, and it WAS a Digital Projection screen. I don't recall the manufacturer, nor did I bother to check if it was Front or rear projection because I simply have no interest in projection screens. Too much distortion, loss of sharpness, and the limited viewing angle sucks...Just in case you were still curious.)

We both like werewolves and here we are posting away about it.
I know little about the next generation gaming consoles. I need to look into it. But I do know the PS3 will play Blu-ray.Vuldari wrote:I do the same thing whenever I stumble across a conversation about Home Console Gaming.

What I'm not sure of is the next generation of DVD movies. You have HD-DVD and Blu-ray. Which will the movie industry pick?

The main reason I'm not enthusiastic about discussing it is because, about a year ago, I was ready to go out and buy my 5.1 audio system, (with the intention of buying a new Digital/Progressive scan 16:9 Monitor soon afterward), when the company I worked for [Kay Bee Toys] filed for bankrupcy and I lost my job. (Quit, actually, because they tried to keep me...but on a smaller paycheck. The store has since completely closed). I had to spend all of my HT fund to pay the bills while I found a new job, and now I'm stuck with my old 27in. Panasonic and Boom-Box Sterio...as I will not be able to afford to buy a new system anytime soon.
(My new job does not pay as much as my old one did, even though I am working MORE hours.
)As I undertand it, Sony, Panasonic, and several large film studios (I don't remember which ones) are allready backing blu-ray. Unfortunately, it looks like BOTH will eventually hit the market...which means we (as "consumers") will have to choose one or the other. ...meaning we will inevitably miss out on some "Exclusive" content by sticking with one or the other.Figarou wrote:I know little about the next generation gaming consoles. ...of course, I'm used to that, being a Nintendo fanboy and only owning a GameCube...therefore missing out on all the PS2 and X-Box "exclusives" like Halo 2 and Gran-Turismo 4.
