Neko, are you a Transformers G1 purist or something?
Only thing I idn't liked was that Megatron did't do a lot in the movie (probably why Frank Welker didn't reprised his role). He unfroze and had 1 battle.
And Devestator should have been multiple decpeticons becomming one giant.

Actually yes I am ^_^ It's the transformers I grew up on and don't get me wrong I'm glad they stuck more or less to the original story, but still...I expected an action movie and by my count the comedy outweighed the action quite a bit. Even the original animated film was darker, more action-packed, and quite frankly more adult. Yes the cartoons had their share of humor and even the animated movie had its share of humor, but it's like they had all these good elements for the film but it wasn't long enough. So they had to fill these holes in the story to make it a feature length film. So they fill those holes with cute little cracks, and clever witticisms, that just water down the movie. Yeah some of the battle towards the end, the rolling (who was it bone crusher?) skating through the bus and knocking stuff around on the highway was cool, the fight at the beginning with the helicopter was awesome, Prime fighting bone crusher was cool although he kept getting his a** handed to him by Megatron. Don't get me wrong it had it's moments of awesomeness, but few and far between. It's like they try and blind the viewer with awesome special effects and don't pay a whole lot of attention to the rest of the film.
One thing I'm really looking forward to though, while we're on the subject of 80's cartoon remakes, is the live action "The Last Unicorn" movie which is in the works. HELL YEAH! That's what I'm talking about I'm keeping on eye on this one.
http://www.the-last-unicorn.net/ Rankin and Bass are so awesome. I can't wait for a Thundercats movie as well. Also I hear they are working on a live action GiJoe! Hopefully these won't let me down.

The action sequences was like that. Not the whole movie.
nekocj wrote:Sorry for angering anyone, if in fact anyone actually read any of that. Hope you guys enjoy it though. I'm sorry I didn't. And Fig I am glad you liked it at least, you are usually so enthused about movies it's hard to hate a movie when you talk about it

There's always one little element that'll make the whole film not worth watching. But not everyone thinks that way.
Sure...there was a couple of parts I didn't like. It doesn't mean the whole movie will stink because of it. To each thier own.
Oh...and look what's for sale on ebay!!!
I rather own the 2008 version.

Sure, they could have added more action. But remember, those computer made action scenes cost a lot of money compared to cartoon battles!
I also grew up with G1 **hugs 1986 movie dvd**(have DVD set), Headmasters, Masterforce, Victory, Beast Wars, Beast Machines etc etc
I've seen and own every TF show since the 80's.
G1, Beast Wars and Galaxy Force (Cybertron, terrible US dub since story got an overhaul) are my favorites.

Seen it another 2 times and i noticed some things
1: Barricade doesn't die: You see him on the freeway with Bonecrusher just before Prime opens a can of whupass on his metallic butt
2: Scoponok doesn't die: obviously, he's prob still hiding in the sand
3: there's gonna be 2 more movies apparently, and me and my brother have been trying to figure out who should be in the next one and the only person we can come up with is Wheeljack

Yeah I also noticed those escapees. Obviously Star Scream escaped too. Maybe these guys will recover Megatron later? Who knows.
Wow Fig that is awesome! Actually I prefer the '77 version personally. I like the classics man
OH I got to give TF some props on one other thing though. I thought it was kinda cool (and kinda annoying at the same time) that BumbleBee was talking using radio stations when they first met him. That's kind of similar to the guys that talked using tv in the 1980's film.

P.S. See I can have positive stuff to say about it too

Figarou, Optimus prime is Soooooo cool in my opinion.
I have now seen the movie twice. First time i was a little irritated by the scmuck in the line.
Yesterday i saw it again, this time with a very vocal crowd. There where many cheerings when the first scene with optimus arrived.
Also Bumblebee was cool too.
Oh, and the "crab" thing. I forgot its called Scorponok. Its an cool scene when it erupts from the sand.
About the shakey scenes: They do that because the movie will become more cooler that way. You know, so much action, that the camera shakes all over the place. Some can become dizzy of that but not me anyway.
Our cinema has by the way, a complete new sound system so you really feel the bass. So cool. Oh, and they had two commercials about not filming in the cinema before the movie started. You think it shouldnt be needed but i guess thay have to.
one last thing: Next time i think its good if they quit most of the sex/porn jokes. Its not really funny. Okay, maybe the "bad Mojo", joke but still...

Just saw it. Pretty cool movie. I never saw the old cartoon, was it actually like that?

Scott Gardener wrote:I read rumor somewhere that they intend three movies, with Unicron appearing in the third. That info is, however, rumor. (I also hear Lucas has in mind a fourth Star Wars, set a number of years after Revenge of the Sith. In it, Anikin, now Darth Vader, unknowingly kidnaps and tortures her daughter while trying to find stolen plans for a planet-sized battle station, while Obi Wan runs into Anikin's son, a kid named Luke. Don't know how reliable these rumors are, and I'm sure the fans will complain about this one.)
You silly person, the Great Lucas could never do something so silly and untrue to the Trilogy.

The Transformers movie was quite entertaining, and I want to see it again. Isn't that what matters? I could debate all day about what doesn't fit with the previous Transformers stories, but I enjoyed this movie too much to care.

THIS MOVIE KICKED BUTT!!!!!!!!
I want a car like bumblebee...

The 2009 Chevy Camaro? I like the older Camaros myself. (Luckilly I own one of the mid-90's models. ^_^) The new Camaro has a SWEET interior, but the body style seems way too similar to the Mustang... more boxy and less sleek.
To be honest, I would have been happier if Bumblebee was... well... a Volkswagen Beetle. Unfortunately Volkswagen refused to allow their cars to be shown in the movie, so the producers took a paycheck from General Motors instead. They did a good job of customizing that Camaro to make Bumblebee's car form resemble the character.

The new Audis look like that, too. It's a fairly unpleasant look, why is it that everyone keeps using it?
Heh... Bumblebee bashed a VW Beetle with his door in the movie.

Heh, yeah I caught that too. Thanks for reminding me. I should look again to see if they removed the VW logo from the front. All I know is, VW either didn't want to be involved, or couldn't pay enough. Hrm.

They could have trimmed 45 minutes off that movie.
They didn't need the Australian hacker and her hacker friend. They contributed NOTHING to the so-called "plot"
They should have stopped following the army guys after the initial base attack. I got really sick of the "attitude" of the soldiers, primarily that posturing black guy who runs around, sweating, sneering at the camera, and yelling "bring it!" like some compton gang-banger.
And they didn't reveal the Autobots until maybe an hour into the thing. Also, the fight scenes were so chaotic, and there was so much detail in the robots bodies, that it made it hard to focus your eye on what you wanted to see. Worse, i didn't like the fact that no shot in the film seemed to last more than 4 seconds, giving you no opportunity to sort of "drink in" these cool robots.
I have more complaints, but i know there's some nerd waiting to pick them apart. Nuff said.

ummm whoa...I hope my previous rant didn't qualify me as a nerd. Cause I'm not all hardcore transformers. But thank you Matt! I'm glad somebody else agrees with me. That's another point I had meant when I mentioned the camera work. Motion sickness. Hard to see how cool to robots are when you're throwing up in the isle.

I was able to see this film for the first time a few days ago, entertaining film that I will own, I dislike editing what is already there, however, replacing a couple parts would not hurt. The one part that stood out as the most ridiculous was the code that could not be read on what I would imagine would be a costly computer system with other knowledgeable people working there, yet can be read in half a minute on someone's home computer that so happens to live right in town. As always I look the other way with such errors and just enjoy the film, of course I always wonder why they write in such parts.
