I think I might actually just implement that directly on this website so that admins could administrate it, and it would be linked to your forum account. Frappr just simply uses the Google Maps API (application programming interface), so it wouldn't be all that hard to make something similar and better hopefully.

Be careful of trying to automate things too much though... I've seen a few places which track visitors by IP address and it looks a lot like the IP range I use (any random Vodaphone dial-up modem) is all registered to Auckland. I'm at the other end of the country...

We don't purely rely on just the IP address, since that would be error-prone and have security issues. Otherwise, as I stated, it would be tied in with a persons forum account meaning you'd go into your profile and write your location you want on there, and it'll put it on the map. If the person didn't want to have it listed anymore, then they could just remove it from their profile. However on Frappr you need the creator of the page to remove the account for you otherwise it's stuck on there if you put it on without having an account at the time. Also, we'd have entire control over it ourself and could do anything with it. But if it's on Frappr, we don't have entire control over it and probably even if some advertisement company could buy them out and all, the addresses/emails listed could be put into a spam registery to be spammed, etc.

By the way, does anyone happen to know whom originally started the Frappr account because I just need to ask something. They're not in trouble or anything.

I put my vote against that. Some of the profile images used in that Frapper map have images that are not safe for children or work (pornographic). Who has admin rights over that?

Apparently the owner of the account apparently is not able to get into their Frappr account to administrate it at all. Otherwise if you're saying that you're voting aganist my concept, well, that's the whole reason I'd be making a Frappr-like map on The Packs Den is so that we'd have full control over it and would be able to rid it of any inappropriate content.

If you're voting against the Frappr account itself, then I'd agree since I have also noticed that some of it may contain inappropriate content and that it would be best to not have a service hosted by a third-party since we don't have full control over it. Thus if I ever get around to making a Frappr-like (note: I'm not using the actually Frappr software itself) map, then we'll just deprecate the current one on Frappr.

Yes, exactly what I'm saying. Lucky for me nobody was in the office but me when those images loaded.

Wow! I thought this was gone a long time ago! I set this up back in 2005, I believe. Then I was gone to Costa Rica for 2 years. Now let's see if I can remember the Admin Password...

Edit: I just sent an email to one of the people that run the map to try and re-gain control; we'll see what happens!

Okay, I'm the Admin again! If anyone has suggestions or sees anything offensive, send me a private message and I'll make the changes!

If anyone else is around the NE Ohio area, we have a local furry board where anyone is welcome to join in the chat. We coordinate meets and such, and have even held our very own convention just this past weekend.
