I live in the middle of a (big) city, so no. If I did, I'd probably get hit with a shoe or something by a angry neighbour. :P

Unfortunately, my howl has not quite developed yet, because for the most part of my life I have never tried because I used to be really quiet and afraid too. But worry not! I have stepped out of the dark and am trying to unleash the beautiful music that I know I am supposed to make. But I am still un-experienced with howling, and because of that when I try to howl, it makes even my ears hurt. But worry not! It will develop over time, especially now that I am going for it. It just takes some doing, and a lot of practice.

Fortunately though, and in the meantime, I do growl, whine, whimper etc. when needed.

Yes, I howl. Most of the time its hiking in the woods,so i am not 'stared at' or in my own home/yard playing with my dogs.I also growl, squeak, whine, whimper, snort, yip and bark. My mate thinks its cute, and has no issues with my ''inner wolf''.She knows, she doesnt care, she loves me anyways.

A couple weeks ago I was up in Washington for a horse show. The showgrounds were near the Muckleshoot Reservation and there was a resident pack of coyotes in the vicinity.

The showgrounds had a campground and I was sharing a nightcap with some other horse people, when the coyotes started singing off in the trees. To me, that's cause and license to do some howling; not too unseemly, because naturalists do it and I have a pretty good ear for animal sounds.

So I started the conversation with a nice coyote howl, but since I was tired and dehydrated it sounded somewhat like a rooster and the coyotes didn't really respond. Then I took a drink, took a deep breath, and OUT CAME A WOLF-HOWL.

In a nutshell, the coyote pack blew a gasket. They didn't stop howling all night, they kept trying to pinpoint me. Knowing better, I didn't howl again because we had coolers full of food and water in camp and didn't need a pack of coyotes sniffing around.

:howl: :oo

ROTFL!

"Out came a Wolf-Howl"... You must have frightened those Coyotes nearly to death.

It's amazing, isn't it? When you finally get it right, it's easy! It takes a lot of practice, though.

I can just see one of the Coyotes going, "OMG! There's a Werewolf out there! The Legends are true!"

Yep, I credit those throat-singing lessons I took a few years back at Burning Man. It totally opened up my throat chakra and taught me to pull it up from my toes.

BTW, Burning Man is a wonderful venue for howling. You get a perfect shot of the rising moon over the mountains east of the Playa and the Howl travels along the length of Black Rock City, north to south, as it clears the peaks and people catch sight of it. I heartily recommend anyone to go when the Burn falls on the Full Moon.

Would be cool to howl in the woods and actually get a howl in return.

My Iphone 3Gs HOWLS! I set a pack of wolves howling as my ring tone... :grinp:

I don't howl, but I DO sing constantly no matter the mood. If I can't think of anything to sing, I just create my own melodies. Sinse I can sing pretty well, no one can count that as howling!
