Wow, two Oriental dishes in a row! Givin' me an Oriental jones...

But no. The buffalo roast has FINALLY thawed and I'll be grilling a slice, serve it up with balsamic-glazed grilled apple and cutting up the rest of the beastie for stew.

The stew will be graced with red-gold potatoes, carrots and chopped walnuts. I'm scampering over to the store for a bottle of wine to marinade the buffalo in...I'm thinking a spirited zinfandel or nosey cab.

It's a stew night, neh?

I had buffalo stew. I made it yesterday and it's been cooling in the fridge all day, I just heated it back up.

Buffalo top round roast, pan-seared with a garlic-salt-pepper dry rub, then roasted and THEN...

Thrown into the slow cooker with red-gold potatoes and honey-balsamic glazed carrots. Mushroom broth.

Simple, hearty, serious tasty.

I'm capping it off with fresh berries in cinnamon-vanilla syrup.

Where did you get Buffalo? I've been looking all over Southern California, the land good food forgot; and not a smidge of Buffalo to be found. There's Beefalo, but where's the Buff?

Fred Meyer's, aka Krogers. Also Market of Choice, a local chain. Buffalo can be had readily around here, if only in hamburger form most of the time. Just hop into a grocery store. But sometimes Fred Meyer's has a sale. I picked up a small roast last time and froze it.

Try Costco. Ours up here sells buffalo burgers. Whole Foods probably has it, too. People are getting clued in that it's really really healthy (which is true) and it's all-natural by law. No growth hormones, no antibiotics, free range meat.
