Obsessed fans do that to threads.
Most obsessed with proving that their show is number 1 goes to Wolf Marine and Shodow Wulf

Of course, the topic drift award still goes out to the ones who took a thread about the pluses and minuses of lycanthropy and turned it into a discussion of Kanji symbols.
And, now, being part of the problem:
As for the Sci Fi lineup: Battlestar Galactica took awhile to get going, but it's gotten pretty good. I can finally say it's quality is on par with the original, though, thankfully, rather than trying to be a remake of the original Galactica, it's doing a different take. Stargate is kind of a variant of the Star Trek idea, with all the pluses and minuses of a long-running series with spin-offs and a movie. (Not saying it's a Trek clone, but it's got some parallels.) I won't say I prefer one over the other. (OK, Atlantis. I said it.) Basically, the Gates are about exploration, seeing what's out there, and cautious optimism. Galactica is more about grit and desperation, and how dire circumstances bring out both the best and the worst in us. Both have their fair share of great philosophical and intellectual points points, as well as mindless eye candy / things blowing up.

To many to list.

*pat pats the traumatized Fig*
Well, you can now add almost getting hit by lightning to my list!!!
I was in my garage with the door open when I saw a flash of light, heard a ZAP, and a KABOOM all at the same time just a few feet away!!! Went out to see the damage. The house next door was hit by lightning. Good thing it didn't catch on fire.
I'm going to get my camera and see if I can take a few pics of the hole in the roof.
The family inside was shook up. They are ok. The wife was washing dishes at the time. She felt some electricity go through her. But it wasn't enough to do any damage to her body.

Here is a picture of the house that got hit by lightning. The fire dept is on the roof of the 2 story house. The small house on the left is mine.

Aren't you glad your house is smaller, then? That's probably the reason their house was hit instead of yours ^_^
I bet they'll be investing in a lightning rod or two...

Back at the last place I lived we had lighting strike the power transformer for our house. There was this big flash, and big
BOOM and everything went dead. We were without power for 8 hours, bit I didn't care, since it prevented me from doing my homework.

Something like that happened to me during a road-trip.... I was going through one of the Dakota's *I forgot which one, I've gone on a "lot" of road-trips.* And I'm looking out the window at the rainy scenery when I'm suddenly blinded and hear this unbelievably loud sound. Lightning had basically come down and hit one of the farmers fence posts that we were traveling along, was absurdely close.

I remember once at 7:00 in the morning I was sitting awake staring at the clock and the window when there was a huge flash of light and a loud crackling sound. Our neighbor's house was hit by lightning, appareantly my Mom saw out window crack from the noise. And the tree in our backward was bent from the storm.
A couple weeks ago there was a storm and there was this gust of wind, those trees outside are as hard as rock but this strong gust of wind pushed them and they started to bend like Gumbi and Pokey.
