Sure, we are patriotic, and we do hunt, but for the most part the assumptions about our personalities and beliefs are wrong.
I hope you know I didn't mean you. You don't go around pissing people off for the hell of it, which is *my* view of rednecks. I don't look at you as a redneck (I'm not really sure what I'd call you, lol). I just can't stand all the rednecks at my school. It's a small town so I've grown up with them and I know they're all the same. There's one nice one, so he's not a redneck (in my school it's kind of an insult :( yes, Moab's backwards, lol). I'd use another term for them, but that's what they call themselves. I hope I didn't offend you because I wasn't meaning to (you're not on my annoying list  )

I know. Please, just realize, the vast majority of rednecks are not like that by any means. Think of it this way. Pretend you grew up in an area where all the black people were uneducated troublemakers, and then went out into the real world and got a new job where there were black people who had gone to college, etc. And then, imagine how they would feel if they overheard you talking one day and you said that all black people are uneducated troublemakers. My point is, just because you are around a bunch of awful rednecks, doesn't mean that the majority are by any means. I really appreciate you feeling the need to respond to my post, I'm glad you were concerned about my feelings. :D

- Professors that exclusively use Power Point, assume everyone in the class is majoring in their topic, and/or inform the class on day #1 the average number of students that pass/fail their class every semester.

- People that call themselves rednecks. I'm sorry, but of all the racial slurs out there, "Redneck" is the only one that does not imply race or region (I know people that have lived their entire lives in MA that I would consider rednecks). plugger, hick, Confed, Confetti, whitebread, country bumpkin, trailer trash and Texas asshole are certainly racial and regional, but as far as I'm concerned, you can't accurately be referred to as a redneck unless you open your mouth and something stupid comes out.
I agree with you about the people lining up on sidewalks and walking slow. People do that to me whenever I am walking across the bridge over the bayou that runs through our campus. :x It's so annoying. And, I know exactly how you feel about powerpoint.

However, you are sorely mistaken about rednecks. We aren't stupid. At all.

People that don't say thank you when you do something nice-

( It seems that I bend over backwards trying to please others and when I do I would like to hear a thank you once in a while, but it never seems to happen..I know you should just be happy of what you did, but it still hurt when nothing is said and you are a kind person... )
Heh. I can relate. When I took a class trip to New York, I held the door open for someone and everybody looked at me like I'd sprouted bat wings out of my head. Yeah, we're nice to each other directly East of here. Hadn't you heard?

Another thing I'd like to comment on:

Far-to-the-Right bumper stickers:
"God, guns and guts," "Footprint of the American Chicken," "America Supports Our Troops" (isn't that redundant?) all that crap that practically embodies ignorance.

And while we're talking about Right-wing bumper stickers, here's a nice little tid-bit for you: Your "Bush/Cheney 2004" bumper sticker will only be tolerated if you put it on before the election results! Wankers!

It doesn't embody ignorance. People are entitled to believe what they want to believe, for reasons of their choosing. Whether or not it agrees with your beliefs does not constitute ignorance.

Sorry, but that's another of my dislikes. People thinking conservatives are ignorant. (Wow, I guess you and I really disagree on a lot of things.)

I know not all rednecks are mean, billigerant people. A lot of people down south seem very nice and hard-working. I just have a personal thing against the rednecks at my school as they constantly torment me (my friends and I included). In the end though, it's not rednecks, it's just them that annoy me. Dang, I gotta get to class now, lol. See ya! :D

I'd say they do. It's one thing to support the war, but an entirely different thing to spit on the name of peace. It's one thing to say "I hope the troops are safe," (I put that bumper sticker on the list because it's redundant), and another thing to say "I hope the troops kill all of those towelheads."

See what I'm getting at? There's nothing wrong with supporting the war or the NRA, but you can that support to an unforgivable extreme.

Oh, I see what you're getting at...yeah I guess I can understand where that could be considered ignorance. I was under the impression that you felt that a large number of conservative beliefs are ignorant.

I hate when people say that. There's nothing ignorant about wanting to ban abortion and keep firearms. Too many people in the world think that just because someone's beliefs or opinions differ from theirs, that they are ignorant. I can say right now that I am pro-life and I am not in the least bit in favor of gun control, but I am by no means ignorant.

But yes, I agree with what you are saying. Being radically in favor of death and destruction is a little extreme. But, just so everyone knows, people like that are by no means a good example of what the average conservative is like.

I think it's funny when someone a few years younger than you swears and it sounds so lame! It's like they're trying way too hard to be big and bad or something  It is annoying though, especially when every other word rhymes with 'truck' or they're trying to use it to intimidate you

That bugs me too. What's funny is that my jewlery/ceramics teacher told us that humans were the one thing the Earth could still function without. If we killed everything any on the planet, it would wreak havoc on the ecosystem/enviroment or something. 'Humans are superior and shall do to the earth whatever they wish' is a very interesting view-point when you look at it that way

While I do think that we are superior, I totally agree with you on the destruction of the world thing. :x We are capable of so much better! Why must we be so wasteful and careless?

I just hate it when people think they can do stuff like that *because* they're superior. If people think they're superior, that's fine by me, just not when they think they start trashing everything and wasting everything. I think we should use our "superiority" to help out the planet, not totally destroy it. As superiors, wouldn't it be our job to make sure things are done right and taken care of? That's why I feel the need to help out animals- in a lot of situations, they can't do it themselves so we should help them. Even if someone thought we weren't superior, I still think we ought to look out for them because we are able to. Okay, I'm done preaching now, lol hwlwnk

I pretty much agree with you almost entirely. I'm not gonna go into the small handful of exceptions that I think are ok, but rather suffice to say that, IMO, you're right overall.

Of course. :D

My exceptions mainly have to do with economic reasons, not superiority issues, anyway.

True, true.

If you want my views on politics, they are long, complex, and not really appropriate to this forum. But I will disclaim that I don't think Bush was significantly better or worse than the alternatives. Construe that how you will.

I get annoyed when kids at my class starts talking in the middle of a teachers conversation and just try to be a smart a** about it. :x and my history teacher is really really nice.

People who talk on their cellphones in places where quiet is desired, i.e. library or study rooms. In fact, people that are just loud in general in those areas. The other day, I was in the study room in one of our buildings, and some girls in there decided to start gossiping. Concentration was totally easy, lemme tell you:roll: . I am also annoyed when people leave their ringers on at inappropriate times, like in class or meetings.

Uppity noobs kinda annoy me too. We recently got a lot of new members for SGA, and they are way too enthusiastic and helpful. Enthusiasm and helpfulness is great, but there's a point when it becomes obvious that it is ambition.

Students that seem to have nothing better to do than talk about how much they hate thier teachers.

I've never had a teacher in all my years of schooling that I did not like...and yet, at least half of them I would regularly hear complained about in the hallways between classes. "...he's so mean" ...she totally hates me or something...I swear..." "...Miss Teacherson has got to be the most awful *&%^* to ever set foot in a classroom. I wish she would just have a heart attack and die allready.", etc. etc.

I love teachers...even the ones that were not very good. I have utmost respect for all of them, just for trying. ...and the good ones I hold in higher regard than most world leaders.

(Of course...their ARE some truely awful ones out there as well, who really DO hate children. But they are rare. ...and yet...by the way many students complain, you would think most schools are Filled with them. ...yeah, right...)

Good teachers NEED to be strict. Students normally have the most contest with them if they have problems with showing common courtesy and respect in the classroom. ...I found that the students that hated the teachers the most were usually the loudest, most bitter and disrespectful kids in school...and yet so many more respectful students listened to them and jumped on the "let's hate the math teacher" bandwagon too.

*ugh* Image

Teachers deserve your respect.

...that's all I have to say.

I didn't quote your whole post, though I agree with all of it.

Students who complain about their teachers just aren't willing to be taught.
