The hulking form of the troglodyte werewolf with the almost puppy-like devotion on its fierce face seemed almost absurd, mascot-l i k e, next to the grim figure of Tykona. But if Blade was looking for a coherent explanation, it was not to be forthcoming. The creature merely stared at him with an expression of utter and stupid infatuation.

The guards seemed to be skeptical of whether they should trust the werewolves or not, for both of them stared at Zan with clear anger and lifted their weapons once more. Zan turned to face them, slowly; he wasn't sure whether they still had any form of reason or logic.

"They can help us," he spoke in the first guard's direction, watching as the man tightened his grip around the trigger of the gun.
"No, sir, they can't. They are here to kill us, and I won't be next on their dinner plate," the guard responded, turning towards the werewolf known as Blade. "They're just waiting to slaughter our people."
"Yeah, commander, we don't know what they're planning," the second guard responded, apparently following the lead of the first.
Zan returned his attention to the group of werewolves around him and nodded. The guards did have a point. For all he knew, it was a trap. He could easily walk back out the door and return to town. However, Surge seemed like a trustworthy person. It was clear that the Elementian had seen his fair share of bloodshed as well. Within moments, Zan made his decision.

"We could use the help," he spoke towards Surge, ignoring the angered sighs of the guards behind him. "After all, Bloodoak Lake could use the trading partners when this battle is over. Just make sure that your 'Brotherhood of Wolves' remains on our side; no accidents."

Surge watched as Wolfward walked away."so...after all these years...haha. A much less energetic reaction than the last time I visited."

Blade sighed. "What'd you need to do?"

Blade looked back. He sighed. "Sorry surge..." And he walked off, followed closely by Hal.

The Hal-creature slunk alongside his master, occasionally throwing a curious glance at the figure of the one called Wolfward. But to his broken mind, the discord caused by this errant pack member mean little. Stability was to be found in obedience to the pack hierarchy and the loss of a few strays was of little consequence.

The werewolf padded on all fours, looking like a stalking lion or some crazed semi-ape as his massive clawed fingers tested the slimy concrete of the sewer. His let himself salivate with the smell of fresh rat meat as the vermin hurriedly scuttled for their lives. Sensation was all, his angst temporarily forgotten amidst the urges of the beast.

Yet one overarching thought, somewhat complex for an animal's mindset, seemed to haunt him and please him at the same time.

He was going to enjoy being a predator.

They pop their heads out of the man-hole, to see an abandoned city. "vamps must've cleared it out, the humans were here a few days ago.We can find our way back to our den from here." They walk through the ruble, making their way towards the forest.

Blade walked along, glacing a few times at Hal, who slunk nearby. "Hey Wolfward, what do you know about Hal's disease here?"

Out of character

This is the point where multiple things are happening at once

Hal's alignment is with Blade, and is currently following him.

Blade is with the brotherhood of wolves, and follows the words of Wolfward

Wolfward isn't willing to help Surge, despite their relations, and has left to return to their den, when attacked by vampires.

Surge wants peace and to protect life, and has stayed in the sewer with Zan.

Zan has mentioned saving lives, and has got Surge wanting to help.

In character

Surge watched the werewolves leave, then turned to Zan. "So, what do we have to do to save those lives?"

His senses aflame, the crouching Hal-creature bared his sharp teeth and snarled. Any one of these attackers was an affront to his senses and his sanity, but together they were an abomination against nature. Dead, yet alive; conscious, yet putrescent with the bitter offensiveness of old blood.

One, a sardonic smile on his thin face, carried a wickedly curved sword. This one came for Blade, silver edges sporting razor-keen death to a werewolf. His master was going to die!

The beast’s instincts took over. The creature leaped up to save his master, one massive clawed hand catching the wrist of the two-legged leech just as the deadly glittering silver descended to cleave Blade’s skull in two.

The Hal-thing roared a challenge to the would-be executioner, ears flat against his wolf-like skull, huge fangs dripping with drool, eyes alight with hate.

The vampire tried to free his arm but it was too late. His monstrous attacker bore him to the ground, pinioning him under almost four hundred pounds of corded muscle. His cry of terror changed to a gurgle and a horrible death rattle as the beast clamped its massive jaws on his throat and jerked its head back. There was a sickening tearing sound as the trachea was wrenched from the throat and a fountain of ichor spouted into the air.

The Hal-creature turned its red-dripping face to Blade and its ears pointed forward in alert responsiveness. Very little humanity remained in its gaze as it gave a querying yip, almost seeming to ask approval for what it had done.

Blade pulled out two longswords and quickly slashed the last vamp's head and one leg off with ease. As it dropped to the ground, he smiled, "That was fun. Haven't had a fight in ages. Wish there were more though..."
Blade looked at Hal and nodded, 'maybe he could be of use,' Blade thought to himself.

"Good work you two." Wolfward turned to look at the area around them."There could be more, I say we flush out whatever is left of them here." With that Wolfward puts his sword back in it's hilt, located on his back. He tells the others,"Let's spread out, but stay within sight. Hopefully we'll find something of interest..."Starts to search.

Blade didn't put away his swords, "Hal, go search left. I'll stay in sight with you." Blade walked off towards what looked like a building. THe words "Hooters" were decaying on the front.

The creature only stared uncomprehendingly at its master as if the command had meant no more than a slight wordless breeze. Its tongue stood out as it panted from its exhilerating fight, blood still slightly caked around its muzzle. And when Blade moved away, the creature followed him like a nine-foot-tall four-hundred-pound hound dog, crouching and slinking on clawed hands and feet.

It soon became apparent to Blade that either the Hal-thing's intellect had retreated to a far-away place or that it didn't even have the mind of a man anymore.

Blade Sighed, "Come on then." The werewolf followed Blade as he walked down the empty streets. It was quiet. He couldn't hear a thing.
"Found anything wolfward?"

OUT OF CHARACTER I have to spend a lot of time waiting for miguel to post, so I can get more rapidly involved by introducing a new character to go with the werewolves. Wolfward will find him in his search, and I'll put the character on the creation page soon, sopay attention to notices about it.

Please look at the character page for information on my secondary character, who will be found by one of the werewolves currently playing.

"I can hear someone, come and help me. I think they're buried under this rubble." He starts to move concrete slabs and brick over where he thinks he hears muffled cries.

Hal crept along the ground, nose twitching as he took in the scent. He could sense the agitation of both his pack mates, but a new aroma was added to the mix: fear, desperation, unreasoning panic.

And something else...

As he moved closer, though not out of line of sight of his master, the creature's upper lips pulled away to reveal wickedly-sharp and gleaming white teeth. Yes, there was another element here.

Something was wrong, not merely the terror beneath the rubble; but a sinister stench that hung like a miasma. The poison of evil.

It smelled like... something...

A menacing snarl escaped him as his gold-eyed gaze now swung from one ruined building to the next, each empty eye-like window seeming to glare at him. The fur on his back rose to stand on end like the spines of a porcupine. This was wrong somehow...

Dusten had been watching for some time from a distance. It was a shame, he thought, that the vampires who had just given me a supply of food ran into Wolfward. Dusten had turned away for a moment to check the surrounding area. Demons had come through recently, and Dusten had to be careful to make sure none came by and caught the werewolves off guard. He turned back to Wolfward. What are they doing to that rubble? It suddenly dawned on Dusten, and he stepped out from his vantage point high in the ruined buildings, and jumped down in front of Wolfward, one of his swords drawn - not for violence, but for their safety.
"Wolfward, you need to stop!" Dusten shouted confidently. "You may think you hear cries, but that is no malevolent creature under there. It's a Myriad - a demon enforcer that comes after an initial force of demons and lures out survivors with sounds of crying children, animals, pets. I trapped it there a few days ago, but letting it go would be dangerous! leave the rubble as it is, and it will die from lack of energy soon after!"

Blade came over and helped remove most of the rubble. Hal seemed to snarl at it.
"You think it's a vampire?" Blade couldn't tell. Death's scent was overpowering everything.
