In a movie theater, you have at least 5-6 speakers just for one of the surround channels. That way, no matter where you sit, you can hear sound from the surround channel. In a home theater, all you need is one speaker for each channel.
That is a lot of speakers.

For the front left, front center and front right, you have one of each. They are behind the screen. The surrounds have 5-6 speakers for each channel. Those are the one hanging high above the seating area.
here is an example

true you can get the same kind of sound or even better cause of that channel sets,my dad doesnt have our surround sound like its suppose to, its not even surround sound when im watching a movie. but still yet you dont get th same feeling at home as youd in a theater. like saw, if i were to see that in theater i would have been more freaked out.
the thing about being in a theater is that your in an unfamiliar, not very comfortable enviroment. your not just in your own sweert home at your nice cozy couch and pause the movie whenever you want, plus graving a pillow or teddybear to make you feel better. but anyway being in an enviroment that your not familiar with or use to adds the suspense and adrenalyne into you when your watching a scary or suspense or action movie. imagine if someone were to break into your house, you know the house like the back of your hand. you know where the gun, or bat is and you more likely to know where the intruder is at exactly at judging by the noise. but i bet you would be more scared if you were in someone elses house or another building that you rarely go to. you dont know map of house, you dont know where the weapons, and you start to feel kinda lost.

I heard the ending was the same as in the book, which seems kinda anticlimactic for a moive.

I think I'll just wait for the DVD. I wasn't too impressed with the trailers. (And they pretty much give away the movie now.)

huh?
Being in a movie theater doesn't add to the suspence of the film.
If you never saw a particular scary film at the movie theater, you'll still jump out of your seat at a scary part even if you saw it at home.
Besides, I don't like the hassles of the movie theater. The drive there, looking for a parking spot, long lines, the crowds, bad food, the drive home, ETC.

Yeah, that's why I like going during the middle of the day, when people are at work, and I get the entire place to myself.

Still, I don't like the drive there and back even if I get the whole theater to myself.

I plan on seeing War of the world. That and every other movie that comes out.
I want to experience the movie at home. See it for the 1st time there. Thats why I like to wait for the DVD. If I see it in the movie theater, then I'll know whats going to happen when I see it on DVD. The scary parts won't be scary. I think you understand what I'm saying.
As for Freeborn, I plan on seeing it the day it comes out in the movie theater.

No. It's because his soundsystem is really
really good.
really good
Good enough that it made me jump twice. And we were watching movies I'd seen before.
