If you're unsure on the spelling of a word, the easiest way to check is to look it up on google. (This accounts for half my google searches.)

not a good idea. As you can see with your example, it suggests 'ridicilous,' but the correct spelling is, in actuality, 'ridiculous.' Google only knows that a lot of people who spell it as 'ridecilous' first try 'ridicilous' next. :/
I would suggest something like dictionary.com or m-w.com instead.

I agree with Vilkacis...Google is NOT a reliable spell-checker.
Dictionary.com is far more usefull and reliable for that purpose.
...in fact, when I am browsing here, I have a second widow open to that page all the time so I can quickly check my spelling any time I am uncertain. (though I still misspell often anyway, as I can only correct it if I am aware that I spelled the word wrong to begin with.)
