THE PACK Message Boards

Okay people; here's the thing.

We're discussing moving the Board to another Domain service and to do that we will need a new name.
Yeah; Thepacksden.com is in trouble, as in AB owns the name and we're having problems staying on the internet because the man is busy. For him, this is a good thing, but for us it means...well, you've experienced what it means.

So, we need a new name to register when we get the new domain. We Mods and Admins have been discussing this on the secret (as in you can't see it) section on the board; sort of a workroom. What was suggested was that we let our fellow Packsters help with choosing the new name for the board, since we're all going to be affected by this business.

Here's what you do: Post your idea for the new name in this thread. Simple, no? If you see a name you like, vote for it. In time a voting board with the most popular names will sit on top of this thread, and the choice will be made from that list.

If it's your name that gets chosen, you will get Bragging rights. Period.

You cannot:
Use "Thepacksden.com-.net-.edu-.anything." It has to be different.
Make a parody of anything already being used.
Be "clever". You all know what "clever" is; anything spammish or using offensive language. Anything that may violate TOS.

You SHOULD:
Make a name that represents what this board is to you.
Try to incorporate the Werewolf concept if not the word.
Make it something that will attract peeps when they see it in Google.

Get the idea? Oh, and this isn't in the Business section because nobody reads it for the most part...
GO! And may the best NAME win!!!

I've got two ideas.

The first is to take into account that, before The Pack had a name and back when Freeborn had a different name, the message board was called Devoured: Building The Ultimate Werewolf.

So my first suggestion would be to get back in touch with the origins of the Pack (since lately a lot of people have been pissing and moaning that the Pack isn't what it used to be) with a name akin to such. Since the film called Devoured is no more, that would be something along the lines of:
UltimateWerewolf.com
TheUltimateWerewolf.com
BuildingWerewolves.com

The other would be to take into account the current state of the Pack. Instead of helping Anthony formulate a fan-created version of the "ultimate" werewolf, many of us have taken the Pack-brand werewolf and gone off in our own directions with it. I've lately been seeing people either A) talking about their own creative endeavors, how the Pack has helped it develop and how they hope to continue to develop it, or B) pissing and moaning that their own personal takes on werewolves are not being validated (or C) pissing and moaning that the Pack isn't as fun as it used to be).

So instead of a name insinuating that we are all working on the same werewolf concept, maybe one that recognizes the many different projects under development with the Pack's input:

BuildingWerewolves.com

Any of the above I think would be appropriate, but since BuildingWerewolves.com could serve as a tribute to the past and present Pack message board, I guess that will be my official nomination.

im gonna say " InnerShifter.com"
'inner' because , well we have taken the concept of a werewolf far beyond what ever outward appearences it may have,and 'shifter' because thats kinda what a werewolf does.it shifts its form.

Are we not allowed to use the name Freeborn? I think having Freeborn in the name would be inspiring. Hope for the movie.

Hmm... When I think of a new name for this forum, the word 'instinct' comes to mind for me. Maybe this can somehow add to the name.

Still gonna' keep BuildingWerewolves.com as my first pick, but PackVisions.com will be my close second.

suggestions are good, and its good there pouring in, some of them are already affiliated with other things though, so i just thought i would point them out.
UltimateWerewolf = is a game
TheUltimateWerewolf = is a book
WerewolvesUnited = is already a forum
WerewolfSanctuary = is a book by Eva Gordon
and PacksVision or PackVisions is very close to = PackVision (which is also a website)

it might be a good idea to google the name you come up with, not so we dont use it ,just so we can see what we might be associating ourselves with.

Thepacksden was my idea since longlivethepack was already taken.

Since this place is just a forum, why not call it "thepackforum.com"

Since "The Pack" has been the identity of these forums for so long, I feel we should keep that identity in whatever new name is chosen.

"ThePackForums" I can definitely agree with, having said that.

Plus, should any long-lost members choose to return, google will still lead them here hopefully. If the entire name of the forum is changed...well, some people might not find it again.

Good point. Maybe we could even recycle the old banner and frames (since they only say "The pack" instead of thepacksden anywhere on it).

So far, so good. I'll point out again that while the things that carry our old identity are tempting, they may already be registered to someone else.

Once there are enough posts for potential names, I'll do a domain check to see what's viable (gonna have to, anyway).

I have to agree with Fig... "ThePackForum" actually sounds pretty nice.

Well, if that's the case:

I suggested "Thepacksotherden.com," which would have been a great domain for the safehouse, at least.



I think something simple like thepackforums or thepackboard, packmessageboards, etc would be my first vote. "The PACK" is well enough to describe what this places means to me, and anything "artsy" that includes words like 'dreams' or 'sanctuary' justs comes off as mawkish or excessive to me.
