Hey guys, I'm new here, so forgive me if this topic has already been covered.
My problem is how to correctly pronounce the word Gestalt. I've looked it up on the Web, and it's come up with several different pronunciations. Just wondering which one is better.

Cheers.

I always pronounced it "Jes-Talt."

"Jest-alt", alt as in 'Alternative', which I find amusing. I imagine most alternative ways of pronouncing it would be due to different accents, such as "Guest-alt", which would seem more appropriate since the word starts with G and not J.

The proper pronunciation of gestalt is to say it thusly...Geshtalt. Hard 'g'. the poster who said guest-alt, was close, but as we all know close only counts in horseshoes and hand grenades...LOL :howl: :oo :P  hwlwnk

I've always said, "Guest Alt," but with the syllable break-up <ges.talt'>, with accent on the second syllable. In other words, I do it pulling hard 'G's.
