Does anyone besides me here actually play Furcadia? If you do tell me your names! I'm (duh) Kotig.

Oh...hmm...heard the name before, but never knew what it was.
Do I/ Will I play it? ...I'll have to get back to you on that once I familiarise myself with it more.
*Downloads Game*
[Edit:] *...later...*
Well, I created a Character ("Vuldari" of course), and walked through the introduction. Though I can see the potential in the game, everything I would want to do there, I can allredy do better in the fully 3D, far more customisable world of "Second Life". (Only $9.95 for lifetime access...*wink, wink*)
(See my Avatar <---)
...therefore, though I may pop in from time to time, (since it is free after all) I doubt that I will become a regular there.
[Edit 2:]
What the?! ...Second Life is FREE now?!
"...why those sneaky little..."*growls*...I registered only a few weeks ago and the #$^#$'s charged me $10 for what they are giving out for free now.
...well...anyway...if you like Furcadia, you'll LOVE SL. ...now the only excuse not to get in on it would be having a sucky computer that cant' run it, or a prohibitively slow internet connection.
"...Join me...join the SL side and together we can RULE the internet. Mwa ha ha ha ha ha ha ha........."

Yeah...you do need a Card to sign up, even if they don't charge anything. It's mostly just to verify your identity.
...and don't worry about the charge. It was worth $10 to play that game...that's still less than I spent on Dinner last friday. ...less than a movie, popcorn and a drink. ...less than some "bargain-bin" PC games. ...It's just frustrating ...thats all...

Heh. I get that about almost everything. She even harped on for an hour about my Freeborn headshot submission -- "but you never know what they can do with these editing programs -- they could put your face on pornography and yadda yadda yadda yadda-"Kotig wrote:2) My mum would freak and be all like " No they just want your credit card number to SCAM YOU!"
Tell me, why would anyone want to see THIS in pornography?!
No, I don't think anyone would want to see a little broken image icon in pornography. But what's that got to do with anything?
I've managed to get on SL recently, but I can't really find anything interesting to do... am I missing something? I realize it has a lot of potential, what with the fancy scripting capabilities and all, but I can't even find somewhere that a nonpaying user is allowed to play with scripts on.

I played Furcadia for about 30 minutes... total. It was recommended to me by a good online friend of mine. She didn't inform me that it involved some of the crappiest Ultima Online-esqe graphics in the world. The gameplay was kind of boring and repetitive, and the world looked like a child was playing around with the Windows "Paint" program. On the plus side though, there was a very friendly community. You really can't put a price on tons of people with great attitudes helping you learn a game. I'd still rather play a text-based game than have to deal with graphics that give me a headache. (And I do.)
Sorry for the ressurection, but I thought I might add something.

I was on there for a few hours. I asked the people who run the site to delete my character. I was bored out of my mind and everyone I came across was outright hostile. a terrible place was my impression. Nothing to do, no games to play, no actual discussions to have. It seemed like the kind of site you only go to with someone else to play around with some graphics and such to make your own private chat area. Nothing for me.
when I look in the mirror what looks back isn't always my reflection.

Second Life is actually a very innovative game. Relying on the creativity of the players to create their characters and environments. I have often thought of trying it since I'm a 3D Animation Major, and am always looking for practical uses for my art.
If I were to get that game, I'd create the ENTIRE interior of a starship. That's my idea of fun. Alas, not enough time to do it.
