are the characters in wolf's rain shapeshifters?

how do also get an avatar?

no not really the wolves in wolf's rain make an illusion to fool us humans that they are human.

GASP!!! you finaly posted!!! and , as for the wolf rain characters, they are wolfs with special power that can fool the human eye to make them appear humans..... did I get it right?

Yep, if you look at their shadows they look like wolves.
