I like this scene a lot.

Are you gonna have any scenes in which the camera does a bit more panning? I like scenes like that.

LOL, I just got to see those clips now; good good stuff :D 8)

Are those scenes going to be in the movie as they are? (You and Carl acting in it?) Or are they test scenes or something?

I love that music playing in the background of the first clip  So happy and cheerful :D And the burp is classic 8)

ABrownrigg wrote:Putting the camera far away from Jim is really a psychological trick. Carl is the in your face person, and is the lead in this scene. Jim (who has no idea what he's doing in writing horror), feels far more isolated. i.e. "The poor shluck that has to deal with all this garbage that he doesnt want to".. putting him far away, shows that isolation.
*nods* You capture that very well ("Ah, soda cans," and the way you close the book especially). Now no matter how campy the plotline may be, it'll still be more crucial since the protagonist is someone the audience can believe in (that's what kills most horror movies; when the protagonist is so lame you don't care if he dies or not).

The scene with the clock is also very effective as well -- the close-ups as the seconds tick away (as is the recital -- didn't recognize it as Mac- *ahem* the Scottish Play, at first) fits perfectly.

I predict that *shakes up his 8-ball* Red Victoria will start off as a cult classic that will have a greater influence within the studios than American households, but once Freeborn is out and word gets around that both the director and FX supervisor (Albee) have low-budget wonderments on DVD, Red Victoria will be a top E-bay search until it's re-released.
Also, notice that Carl is a Pack Member, he wears it around his neck at all times. Just had to include that.

glad you liked it.

The opening scene for the film is finally finished. Actually a lot of stuff is, but I'm only willing to show the open, and another gore piece when that's finished..

Just the opening, setting the tone as it were.

:( Oh well. I'm sure it looks great -- everything else I've seen so far has. :)

try this one:

The .mov version seems to be missing, but the .wma version is there, I've seen it, and it rocks. It lives up to the other two, and I'm really looking forward to seeing this puppy in its entirity.

And now more than ever I'm looking forward to Freeborn as well, hoping that Brownrigg et al find a studio who will just let them do their thing without trying to tamper with it.

It's got that quirky and innovative indie feel, without that low budget, cheap feel that a lot of indie films have. If I didn't already know that it was done on less than the price of a used car, I would have thought it a much bigger production.

Fig, you're making the director nervous. He's worried you might make all the women lesbians.

I like how the opening scene came out Mr. Brownrigg. I look forward to seeing the rest of the movie!

You should probably recast the interviewer. That guy seems to be a dork. Sometimes I wonder where you find some of these people.

Hahahahaha... Ladies and Gentlemen, Haven Riney, our interviewer in the scene, and also a talk show host I had the pleasure of co-hosting a show with some years ago.

Yeah, what a dork... go fig.

And another scene from the film. I"m not putting up any spoilers so don't worry about that.

This is another funny one. Carl, (ed landers), happens to be a larper.

Strange but true, I'm going to have to confirm this. There aren't many people that can smile in that uber-creepy kinda' way (I can because I have a monster overbite, but that means I can't smile any other way). So while I will discourage the profession itself, it might be fun to act as one.

Love the musical accompaniment BTW. I keep getting the impression that Jim is the only one taking Victoria seriously, and the music adds to that perfectly.
