Just got my X-Box 360 at five this morning. I took the day off from school and played Call of Duty 2 all day. I'm pretty lucky, the store where I got it has so much of a demand by the pre orders that there won't be any in the store until February.
Anyone else got one?

Meh...
I've never been Less exited about a game system launch before...and I'm a gaming Lunatic.
...I'm holding out for the other two. (Revolution and PS3...and upgrades for my PC)
The graphics rock...no doubt...but after playing demos of a few 360 games, I was not impressed enough to get exited about it.
My only regret is not being able to play PGR3. (I LOVE racing games.) ...but PS3 will have GT5...so "no contest".

I never have liked and probably never will like consoles. Admittedly, the PS3 has some attractive features, like realtime fluid simulation, but I can get myself a PhysX card for that. The 360 holds no interest for me. I honestly don't trust microsoft to make a reliable product, and I haven't seen anything I like that much on it anyway.

Heh - that'll go quickly. I'm not getting another console. Period. Either my Xbox or PS2 doubles as my DVD player, but, that's about all I do with them anymore.

What games do you suggest that I play if I were to buy it?
Other than the number of reflective and bump-mapped surfaces in the game environments, and aesthitic touches like random activity going on in the bacgrounds, are any of the games available now really More fun, or even
as much fun as the equivilant games available for the
Current generation systems?
I've played Kameo...I've played that WW2 game...and I've seen quite alot of PDZ...and from what I've seen, the Original Perfect Dark for the N64 (though blurry as all heck) is still more fun.
If Halo 3 was available now, or another game of that calibur, I might be curious, but since OBLIVION is the only other 360 game announced so far that I really care about, and I've allready pre-ordered the PC version of that, I really have no reason to want one.
...oh...and NINTENDO has allready announced that
THIER online service will be totally free as well. ...and unlike "LIVE
Silver", Nintendo's free service will
INCLUDE* VS. online play.
(*For "First Party" titles like SmashBrosRevolution, MarioKart or MetroidPrime3. ...third party games could require fees if the developers set them up that way.)

I'd argue back at you with vehement opposition, except I'm not that interested in the PS3 either, although it
is more attractive than any xbox. Instead, I'll just point out that you're being a console fanboy.

That would be kinda hard since Microsoft is taking a loss on the Xbox.

That's how the video game market works- the company sells their console at or below cost just to get the units out into the public. The games are what makes the company money, not the consoles.
By the way, this xbox shortage is artificial. It's all planned. Have you looked on ebay recently? I'm still seing xboxes selling at $1,200!
I wish I would have thought to go out and buy one or two of 'em. Would have made a nice profit...

Yeah, but aren't they selling them at something like a $126 loss? How many games does an average person buy? At $60/game it's going to take them a while to turn a profit on each machine.

Hm. Normally this isn't a problem for me, I honestly can't think of a better way to phrase this. I admit it's not very clear and might take two or three rereadings to get, but I can't improve that while remaining true to the basic structure. Feel free to correct me in more detail.
I really should be in bed right now.

Hate to add fuel to the fire, but I'm going to side with the "XBox sucks" crowd. Bill Gates is a greedy bastard, 95% of XBox titles were originally PS2 titles, and those few games that are exclusive to the XBox are just so-so at best. If I ever feel like trying a Microsoft console system, I'll look for one at a yard sale.

I agree, I mean I don't hate XBOX but I have always been a PS

fan.

Nintendo owns.
Sure...in past years, the graphics and gameplay of their consoles have been a little behind others, but IMO, they've always had the funnest games. Sure, shoot-em-up and racing games are fun, but sometimes I just want something with a plot, non-gory violence, and cartoonish characters. Nintendo seems to have the most of those. Or at least the most good ones. But, then again, that's just my opinion.
On a side note, did anyone ever play that really really old nintendo game where you were a track and field runner, and you had to run and jump on a big mat whenever you were playing the game? I loved that game. That and duck hunt.
I wonder when nintendo will come out with a 'controller' that attaches to various parts of your body, allowing you to actually make the movements your character makes in the game. I look forward to that. (and before anyone says it, no that 'eye candy' thing doesn't count.) LOL as soon as some major game company makes one of those, and uses it for most of its games, the children of America will lose weight like crazy.

The Track and Field game...that was..."Track and Field". ...Really...
It was actually often released as a pack in with the NES unit as a Tri-Game Cartrage. (Mario/ DuckHunt/ Track and Field).
As for the controller you described...
Way back in the NES days, there was a controller you actually wore on your hand which responded not only to your arms movement, but also to which fingers you bent on that hand. That was the PowerGlove.
Unfortunately, it did not work very well. (I still have mine...though it's broken.)
However, the crew at nintendo realized that, though the original unit was faulty, the
CONCEPT was still sound.
Thus came part of the inspiration for the new REVOLUTION controller, which, instead of being "attatched" to your body, it is held in the hand like a wand or a TV remote, but (unlike the powerglove) it ACCURATELY registers it's movement, tilt and rotation in 3D space. Some games will actually use two controllers together and thus, two hands.
I would imagine that if one could combine two controllers for a single player, you could also combine a floormat (Track And Field/ DDR style) with the "Freestyle" Revolution controller for a type of gameplay interface unlike anything anyone has ever played before.
...pure speculation, of course...
That's why I'm holding out for the Revolution. There is so much more potential there...even if it will have the weakest graphics of the three, as the PS2 is the bottom rung now. (That never hurt the quality and success of that system, did it?)

Overall I think the PS3 is going to win this generation cause thiers still a ton of people waiting for the PS3 and half of the xbox owners is going to be getting the PS3 aswell. On top of that Microsoft hasnt completly won over support from japan as much as Sony.

You've got to be kidding. No no Mr. Gates, in the console industry, a system crash is a bad thing.
Going to have to go with Shadow Wulf on this one. Nintendo does have a sturdy market for their consistent mascot titles, it's nothing compared to the CD market Sony and Microsoft are competing for (a lot of people that got GameCube, in my experience, also got a PS2 or XBox). And Microsoft, well. . . Apparently the fact that they are universally despised is just the chip off the iceberg for them.

I think this will likely be the case.
...even so, PS3 comes second to me after Nintendo. I'm passing entirely on all that is X-Box and holding out for the REVOLUTION...and if I have any money left over, I might snag up a PS3 after thier first price drop (6mo- 1.25y after the release). Unless it's too expensive...in which case I'll probobly just get a used PS2 and collect only the best that system had to offer (including the best of PS1).
...that will be more than enough to suck up most of my money, and my free time for a large chunk of my natural life. ...untill long after the birth and demise of the PS4.
(I still have not collected all the NES, SNES, SEGA GENISIS, N64 and GameCube games I want yet, and havent completed all those that I have.)
