That's interesting. Thanks for sharing, and sorry I can't offer more of my own personal input, as I am lacking in the time area. Well, maybe later.

One of the reasons why there is a lot of confusion and contradictory information on the Beast is because there was a lot of confusion and contradictory information while it was happening. Also, the fact that the body disappeared has made it so that all scientists investigating the problem have little evidence, so they come up with contradictory theories and fight with each other quite a bit. Anyone who tells you the question has been resolved as really being "x animal" is mistaken, whether "x animal" is a bear, wolf, wolf-hybrid, hyena, donkey or something else. I have even read contradictory reports based on the surgeons' description of the teeth. Some experts say it can only describe a wolf, others a hyena. However, anyone who is an expert on animal teeth should not disagree with other experts on animal teeth!
Right now, theories are leaning towards a hyena. But that fad might pass too. I have a
page about the beast that is aimed at the cryptozoology community, so it mostly ignores the more mythical or folkloric aspects.
