The Werewolf Olympics

Its the Werewolf Olympics! So we must decide which are the finest of their individual games! And who did so poorly they must be boooed from the feilds! The top three shall win The Pack medal's of Gold, Silver(is that a good thing?) and Bronze. The top losers shall be awarded the Silver Bullet :wink:
First though we need nominees for catagories and who shall be placed within the catagories. Here are mine so far...

We will need three in each catagory at least. First submit your nominees and then we shall let the games begin! :D

Worst Werewolf Movie - Blood Moon (I only chose this one because it was marketed unfairly as a werewolf movie when in fact it is not. It is a terrible werewolf movie, but a great movie overall).

I edited my post, seconding Anirbas's choice of the HP werewolf as the worst werewolf design. Heh, I actually forgot he was a werewolf for awhile.

Okay, I'll play:

Best Werewolf Movie: "The Howling" (duh)
Worst Werewolf Movie: "Werewolf" (the one that "MST3K" made fun of)
Best Werewolf Design: "The Howling" (again, duh)
Worst Werewolf Design: "Wolf" (I'm sorry; Jack Nicholson just looked like a hairy Elvis with fangs--that's not a WW in my book)
Best Transformation: "The Howling" (noticing a pattern?)
Worst Transformation: I forgot the exact name, but one of the terrible "Howling" sequels where the guy turns into a puddle of goo--gross!
Best Werewolf Book: "Blood and Chocolate" (and I know the movie version is going to ruin it)

Regarding Howling IV: The melting puddle shift does get points for creativity, especially for a horror approach. But, the execution of the scene was pretty bad. Most annoying were the demonic "Satan calls you" voices chanting in the background. Puh-leeze. Bad enough that the Satanic demon element had to get brought up, but rubbing it in over and over, it's most irritating.

Best Werewolf Book-The Wild a somewhat obscure title by Whitley Strieber. Definitely worth a look as it is quite out of the beaten path.

Somebody wanna take over this and give out the 'medals' and 'Silver Bullet' awards? I'm not quite sure how to do it, lol, I didnt think this out too well :P

BTW, I just got me a used copy of The Wild :) Should be a nice read, I hear nothing but good things about it. :D

Here's my plan:

I will be running a tournament-style elimination. This kind of elimination is not known for its fairness, so don't take the results seriously. The way the candidates are arranged in the beginning can affect everything, but doing it this way should suit our purpose well enough.

If there are an odd number of participants during a round, I will randomly choose one to get a buy-in to the next round, except that no participant should be chosen more than once in a given category, unless impossible to do otherwise.

The rest will be paired off by their relative position in the list. I will give a list of the pairs, and your job will be simple: for each pair, vote for the candidate you think best fits the category header.

If you are unfamiliar with one of them, vote for the one you know.

If you are unfamiliar with both, do not vote.

If a pair of candidates does not obtain at least two votes shared between them (that is, if practically no one knows anything about either of them), neither one will advance.

In the end, each category will have one victor and one runner-up. Those in the 'Best' categories get precious medals (not silver), while those in the 'Worst' category Bite the Bullet.





A good way to vote is to quote my next post and then delete the entries you don't like.
