I have Limewire (and love it, by the way). But, I'm considering getting BitComent/Torrent (or whatever it's called). Do any of you have that? If so, what are your experiences with it?

Also, I recently downloaded Avast! Home Edition, which is a very good virus protection program. My computer had a Trojan Horse, and Avast! was able to get rid of it. Norton, Spybot, and Lavasoft couldn't (granted, Spybot and Lavasoft aren't really supposed to work for viruses, I don't think). Plus, it makes cool siren noises whenever it tells you that you have a virus.

The protocol is called BitTorrent, but there are numerous programs that use it. The way it works is that you find a central server like TorrentSpy, MiniNova, or a number of others that hosts and tracks .torrent files, which help your client find the actual file from peers who host it. You, as a peer, both download and upload data to and from others; for this reason, transfers are typically pretty high-speed on popular torrents. Note that download speed is porportional to upload; most clients will prioritize uploads to peers that have uploaded to them much higher than to those who haven't. For this to work, you will probably need to forward some ports to your machine.

For windows, I reccommend you use uTorrent, an impressively small and powerful client.
