For everyone on the Pack Forums here and myself I just want to know, should a problem arisse on here, how can we contact our Mods and Admin, if they aren't ever online? I don't mean any disrespect to anyone and I know u are busy with your lives, but we need some around to be able to clear away such threads when they pop up here..

I saw that nasty post in the creative den and I didn't think it was real at all, but it is!! I think in all honesty that from now on anyone joining should have to be approved by the Mods and Admin to avoid that garbage...

I dunno, I am just saying what I think would make things better for us all and make it more enjoyable :(

I most definatly agree.

Hmm. perhaps the mods could give us thier cell phone #.

No but serouse, we have to find a way to stop these spammers from posting stuff like this. This is the second or third time this happend.

I agree with you too. I tried to send one of them a private message, but I don't think it worked. :?

I would have to say I agree with your guys, even though its been a while since i been on here. Cause my computer died and couldn't get back on.

So if I didn't see what your all talking about doesn't mean I don't know of such things because I see it all over the other message boards that I happen to be on. And Mods and Admins can't always take care of it.

That wouldn't really help if they weren't around a computer :P

Well I have not been on this forum for long enough to be able to comment on how it is moderated. However I am a moderator for another forum and I can tell you this much. No matter how strict you are you can not always stop spammers and if you are too strict you discourage new members from joining. I doubt moderating this forum is a full time job so I’m sure that they are doing their best under the circumstances. Unfortunately I’ve noticed that the more popular a forum gets the more spammers and other unsavoury types want to mess with it.

Lupin is now a moderator.

Terastas now moderates all sections.

I may need more moderators if Lupin and Terastas are to busy to get online.

Also, have you considered adding one of those authentication number images with the blured or randomly distorted text to the signup process? It tends to stop quite a few bots from signing up. It won't stop them all but it will help. As far as I am aware it is a simple mod for phpbb2.

It's on:

But yeah, the problem is that there are ways around it, like showing it to real people and having them decode it.

I am willing to be a mod, unless you guys think I'm too much of a jerk to get the job. :P I got the experience (own board, other boards).

Sorry I haven't been around lately. This quarter is really killing me. I'll probably be scarce for a while yet.

Congrats to Lupin -- a good choice for the job.

Bringing this thread back up because it seems that we have had alot of PORN BOTS come through here lately...I for one am sick of it..What you look at in ur own time is different, but to have this stuff just be posted all over is sick especially with alot of the Pack memebers being kids.. :x

I agree, the spambot that posted sunday morning as some of us are aware was particularly nasty, and I am afraid that this is a sign of things worse to come

I agree 100%... I come here to talk about werewolves and to be around other fans of werewolves... Not to have to sort through spam-filled forums to find the good stuff. Half the internet's full of porn and crap anyway, no sense in even more of it going downhill.

I think that's not a bad idea... I don't know if this message board program would support it, but if it did it would be good... My idea is that when a new member signs up and makes their first post, the post should go to the moderators for approval, and if it's spam (porn, drugs or whatever) the spammer's account should be unceremoniously nuked. If it's not spam, then just let them post under the same rules as everyone else.

I agree.
I like this forum alot.
My boyfriend and I ran an Alliance forum for a game we use to play. The problem got so bad we had this same problem and we set it up where everybody had to be approved.

Such things should be considered illegal by the W3. Perhaps it already is. You can all petition to sue, not to actually get money, but to raise the question as a rude awakening onto the general public.

This is why we need more admins just for censorship.

So, why not set up "the Kennel" where wanna-be's and spammers have to wait for approval by a living, breathing Werewolf fan and leave it at that?
They can post in the "Kennel" until one of the Admins decides they're a Wolf ( or something similar) and lets them in with the rest of us. That would mean perhaps a two day hold at most, with a form E-Mail that lets them know they're in...
Would it be that difficult, even? ??
