Dogs Saved/Pet Stories you want to share

I don't know if you've seen it, but there are thousands of dogs that are going to be put to sleep this weekend if no one adopts them. The animal shelter in Clayton county is getting way to full. My mom is going to take me sometime over the weekend to see about adopting one. If you want, one ask your parents
or if you have any friends that might want a dog tell them.
My mom had said that I could get a lab puppy next chrismas, but I might just go ahead and adopt one from this shelter. I just can't stand the
thought of all these animals being killed.  :mourn:
:mourn:

I know this has nothing to do with werewolves or anything about the movie, so please forgive me. I know there are people here from Georgia like me who might want one, so I thought I should post something.

I have changed the tital because, all the dogs have been adopted, but you can still post about the matter and share some stories about your pets.
Well, anyways for you people who haven't read this post yet. All the dogs were adopted in one day. I think every person in Clayton county came to buy one. :D
Of coarse I and many others have posted their views and concerns on the matter, so feel free to read and post. If anyone does still post be sure that I will always type back. :D

Thats awful :( Its so sad how little non-human lives are valued :(

I can tell you right now that it isn't so much the value of those lives - some shelters take part in mercy killing rather than having thousands of stray dogs on the loose.

I mean, human life is valued at about the same in some parts of the world. I don't know PETA's stats, but Hussein misplaced 400,000 people in his prision system from 1979-2003. That's two percent of the total population of Iraq.

I wish there were more No Kill shelters. Id definately be allowed to adopt one (I still live at home) if I was in Georgia or nearby, but Im in Australia. I will be shelter adopting though next time I get a companion, without a doubt. The problem is, people need to donate more; they can't house the animals because they don't get enough money from people. I try donate where I can.

If I ever get money for selling music and stuff, Ill be funding some shelters myself, doing my bit, and hopefully working in a few. Bit of a Bono heart ;)

Well, Australia is definitly far away from the U.S.
Least you guys care.
I got the news paper for my mom this morning and on the front page in big bold black letters it said that all the dogs had been adopted. :D :howl:
I am very happy that none had to be put to sleep, but I am a little upset that I was unable to get one.
Hey, thats ok its not the end of the world. I still might get one next christmas. :o

I had no idea, and what's weirder is I live in Feyette county (the county right next to Clayton) and haven't heard anything about it. I know they have been complaining about "Imports" from Clayton but I had no idea there was so many they were going do a culling. Oh well I'd get one but my mom will say no because of our cats.

Still Can't believe it I go through clayton AT LEAST once a week and still haven't noticed it.

BTW the link is outdated

Yea, it really is fantastic.
I went ahead and took the link off. It was old and since all the animals were adopted theres really no need for it anymore.

Oh, in Georgia in front of every Pet Smart you can find, are people selling dogs. They are part of some voluntry group, but anyway mom and my sister and I decided to stop and look at the dogs in front of a Pet Smart on Sunday. In one of the pens was a little German Sheperd puppy.
I begged mom for that puppy, but she said no.
I said, "Mom do you know how much I love you. I mean from here too the moon"
I love her much more than that of coarse. A few pens down were two really cute black puppies. I thought they were black labs, but as it turns out they were part Great Dan and Part Mastiff. :o :o

A mastiff is a really big dog just like the Great Dan
http://www.dogbreedinfo.com/mastiff.htm
Here is a link and temperament discription, for those of you who don't know what a Mastiff is.
Oh, I know in that picture the dog looks small, but trust me there HUGE.
Mom and I had taken my cat Jade to the vet one afternoon, and as we were standing at the front counter getting ready to check out. This big mastiff came in and this was the first time I had ever seen one. Mom and I both were shocked at the size of it, but he was cute. I don't think I ever want one that size though.

Anyway, Mom took one look and those puppies and said, "MY GOD THEIR PAWS ARE AS BIG AS BEAR FEET"!!!!
For 10 week old puppies they were pretty big, so of coarse she definitly said no the Great Dane/Mastiffs.

Hey, if you guys have any wacky stories tell about your pets, please share them, and if you like dogs has much as I do(which you all know now is alot) :sweatdrop:
Then share them. :D
Ok, I know I've come off as being really obessive about dogs, but I just love animals period :D

Pet stories...hmm. Well I have brothers, not pets hwlwnk

Alright there is my cat brother, He Who Whines Continuously. Much like a human brother (Little boys are pains but my human brother is older than me). He is, however, mature enough to know not to whinge, and has started up recently, we're not sure why. He is nearly 8. There was one time when he sat on my bed and I was talking to a friend (This was a few years ago). He suddenly jumped up and his tail arched pretty hilariously, and he jumped backwards as if his feet and legs were stiff and unmoving. Like springs on his paws. It was so funny, he jumped several meters somehow, then twitched his tail twice and left.

My canine brother surfs :P enough said.
