Lobotomy?

Weird question, but I was thinking of 'One Flew Over the Cuckcoos Nest' today and this came up in my mind. What do you think would happen to a human who had something like a lobotomy done to them and then got bitten by a werewolf? Would the brain repair itself or what? Or even a ww that got captured and had their brain tampered with? Could they still shift? Discuss!

Lycanthropy is not a cure all.
If the nerve fibers connecting the frontal lobes has been surgically severed, a bite from a werewolf will not repair it.
Besides...I bet the werewolf wouldn't even bother biting the guy if he has been lobotomized.
Would you?

I think that it could regenerate as long as the brain stem isnt damaged so the person can stay alive and that whatever area of the brain that involves and/or triggers the transformation isnt tampered with, so it can regenerate, but it would be new, so if the part of the brain removed or toyed with would be like a newborn child's. For example, if the hippocampus was damaged and regenerated due to lycanthropy it would lose all the memory it had previously owned. That is what I think at least. If the petient was a werewolf already.
If the person wasnt a werewolf then was bitten he/she wouldnt have a chance.

If weres have regenerative powers the if its not too severe then yes i feel if bitten then it would repair itself to some degree....

No, because no brain cells, in ANY animal - even ones with regenerative properties - can grow back or be repaired.

Only if the world they're in contains magic. Then you can have them doing whatever the hell you want. Like growing pink fur, climbing walls like a gecko, and flying like Superman.

regenerative powers?
To what degree?
The way I see it, werewolves heal quicker and fight infection better than a human. Thats why they could live up to 400 years.
If a werewolf loses his arm in a fight, I don't think he can simply pick it up and reattach it. As for nerves, humans can get paralyzed for life from a spinal cord injury or dysfunction. There is no cure and the body doesn't repair it. A bite from a werewolf won't repair it. If its possible...then whats repairing it?
I still don't see lycanthropy as a "cure all."
Oh....if a werewolf bites this
kid do you think it'll cure her condition?
I don't think so.
Here is a video to that story.

Actually, they do:

But even with the regrowth, that doesn't mean they'll have any sort of meaningfull recovery.

Figarou thats an exageration with the way your thinking. You always seem to jump into conclusion when someone says regenerative abilities and you automitcaly think "cure all", I dont believe werewolfs can cure deformaty.. A werewolf isnt a cure all and it never has been. Look at silver allergies, was the werewolf able to cure that? no. Same thing with wolfs bane, they are allergic to that too. They may regrow a limb depending how bad the conition but what if it takes them 1 or 2 centuries to repair it, if it takes them that long then I dont see anything wrong with regrowing limbs. Its regrowing within a few days to a week or even to a couple of years is that it seems exagerated.

If I lose my arm in an accident, its gone forever. If I get bitten by a werewolf, I don't expect that arm to grow back at all. Sorry...I just find regrowing limbs a bit silly.

Regerating, interesting but impossible. Cells only grow so fast and even at the rate that they grow, a lot of energy is required. If someone could regenerate, they would need to comsume a lot of food for all that energy, and if they didn't, their body would probably start eating itself. But that's only my two cents anyway.

I like regrowing limbs, but I like for them to take LONG time to regrow, like a 100 years or so, it doesnt seem so unrealistic that way cause its regenerating at a speed that wont affect the body.

OK, the old "software" / "hardware" analogy. The werewolf could regenerate the hardware, but any personality that was lost stays gone.
Granted, a new frontal lobe could restore default frontal lobe activities, allowing one to be aggressive again, remember new experiences (even if the old ones were deleted with the lobotomy), and have normal emotions.

I'm with the majority on this one. Werewolves have a more active immune system which allows them to heal quickly, but not from anything a normal human would not otherwise recover from. They heal fast, but calling them regenerative implies a magical element.

Why does it have to imply to magic? We have quite a few animals that repair its limbs (even though they are simple organism).
Werewolves regrowing limbs is unlikely, improbable. But not impossible.

And reptiles are the ones that regenerate arent they? Werewolves, as complex mammals, shouldnt have that ability unless its magic related.

Dear God, why you let this happen?
Anyway. I think the werewolf ability would regenerate neural damage at some level. If your spinal cord gets damaged (I mean small damage but still large enough to paralyze a human)
you would be walking again after some time. The werewolf is cure for some deceases but definitely not all.
I think the werewolves would be observing their victims for some while to make sure theyre the prey thay want.
