Today I craved adventure. So I left the house. I didn't kno wwhere I was going, I didnt take a map. I just felt like going where my intuition took me.

I left Colorado Springs and drove up into the mountains to the town of Woodland Park. Where I shot this image of the east slope of Pikes Peak.
Image

Next , I drove deeper into the mountains, into park county ( see the sign?) Yep, that's the REAL South Park. It actually exists, although technically, this would be southeast-park.
Image

So I spy a bait shop next to a dirt road snaking into the mountains. And there's this cool old tyme 7UP sign. Great 60's logo! ( 7up is a soda, for you young-uns who only drink Mountain Dew :}
Image

You think I'm not gonna take a dirt road I know nothing about? Well, I did!( approx. 11,000 ft elevation here...
Image
At this point i have no idea where this road is taking me. But I can imagine werewolves living here in this remote mountain wilderness...Yessir...
Image

What do I see as I'm driving? Wahoo! But alas! it was closed!
Image

I keep going. After hours of driving I come out of the mountains into a GARGANTUAN valley! This is where I would totally film the house scenes for Camp Lycanthrope ( for those of you who have read the script..
Image
Image

And, if that weren't cool enough, what do i find? LLAMAS! * thrashes around with excitement* I threw Lay's barbeque potato chips at them, but they didn't want any! Picky llamas! If only I had some rubber duckies...
Image

I keep going. back into some forest...Stop to take a picture of the filthy Matt car.
Image
And finally, just when I'm wondering if I should turn back...what do I find? A lake that looks just like the actual one from "Camp Lycanthrope" Just as I saw it in my mind! Only I''d never been here before! Can't you just see a bunch of white tents on that ridge, and werewolves leaping off the rocks into the water? I can!
Image
I wade in. I fight with a surly Crawdad! He pinches me with his claws, i curse! I am buzzed by a peregrine falcon, who dove so fast, it made a SOUND ( whistling through the air ) I threw rocks at a rainbow trout who kept swimming closer to me. If I were a werewolf..this is so totally where I would live, and if CL is ever made in live action, this is where I'd film it.

Finally, after much frolicking, I head home, happy and de-stressed. I think you guys shouldpost your own adventure posts here!

Neat pictures. Some do look Camp Lycanthrope-ish. And I bet that crawdad laid the smack down on you. :D

I'm going to go for a short trip in my car later today, so maybe I'll have a story to tell when I get back.

I see that you are on Yahoo Messenger. I am sorry that I did not IM you... I am a cautious individual and do not like to interrupt people if by chance they're doing something important. Sorry.

That crawdad was teh beast! It reared up in 3 inches of water, claws opening wide, like the kraken! He won this round...

Those pictures don't really do justice to the area. It's so dang BIG. And unusually quiet! I expected to hear bugs, birds, no. It was really dang quiet.

Thats a beautiful area. I wish there were parts around here that were as unpopulated as that!

Though the other day I was in the car with my mate and we were drving past the reservation and I think I saw a bear! :o Theres not suposed to be bears in there. But it was big like one and moved like one. :D

I just hope he doesnt get into any trouble. :(

I live on the edge of the New Mexican desert on the west side of the Rockies. Plateaus, wind weathered rocks, dead volcanoes and hundreds of miles of wildlife filled desert plains. All in the vacinity of my city. Would there be a Lycan village out there? I wonder.

I could take photos if anyone is interested.

I've been to those parts of Colorado before. It's nice around Pike's peak. Driving to the top of Mt. Evans is a thrill too. It makes me dream more of my fantasy of owning a ranch with many exotic animals. Preferably Wallabies.

I'd like to go up to Colorado some day in my lifetime. (But it has to be in the summer time.)

I'm very tempted on doing that. But I gotta see how much it'll cost and start saving up for it. Right now I can't do it since I'm donating alot of $ for a good cause. Maybe in a year or 2.
