Something that has been coming to mind is the fact that when the Freeborn movie is realeased, The Pack is going to be swamped by the millions (literally) of people who are faking their werewolfism, or flaming such fans, etc.
So, after dwelling on that thought, I was thinking that we could change the advertised website onto another forum, and then be invited by people who regular this place.
That way, you would be able to have this place be a refuge from idiotic fanatics.
Just food for thought...

If I recall.....ABrownrigg will have a Freeborn site. That site may have a "Freeborn forum" seperate from this one.

Thats good, the last thing we need is a bunch of people joining and randomly saying how the movie is soo awsome or the movied sucked. Or a bunch of other spammers.
NOTE: If there is gonna be a freeborn forums, please dont post any links to here.

Agreed, especially with the spammer part. It's disturbing to know there are several 'groups' who's main entertainment seems to register to a random forum all at once and spam the hell around with quite.. delicate stuff. I saw this twice so far and I'd so hate it to see it again, especially here.

Agreed,
If no one posts a link to this site, then we wont get over run by possers, n00bs, and the fanatic that has little or no life to speak of. They will eventualy push regulars like us out of the forum, with the flood of "What did you think of freeborn thread" clones, chat speak, and all around n00bish behavior that drives us NUTS! not to mention the volume of people that could flock here.
But sooner or later some n00bish fan, or freeborn forum Admin/Moderator will find us and THEY will link to us then it's good bye pack and hello n00bie island.

What if we took the site off google, and made the regestration process so frustrating that only serious people would log on? (note last part was joke, bad joke, but still a joke)

perhaps by invitation only........only can get here if you know someone else...or is that too exclusive...

Nice points, but I would not make it invitation only. I realize that it would stop the influx of non-desirables, but it would also prevent serious contributors from joining.

I don't see what the problem is. As long as people kept talking about the movie Freeborn into the correct forum topic, how would new members diminish this forum? Invitation only is a horrible idea. Boo for elitism!

THAT IS A GOOD IDEA
like gmail, only get in if you know someone, mabye you can write to the mods, plead your case etc. I think this is a great way to make sure the Pack grows SLOWLY, as of now it seems like some of the "werewolvyness" is going away, only to be replaced by the stuff of other forums. I hope the pack retains SOME of its individuality.

Invitation only is not a fair idea and you know it, what would have happened if you weren't allowed on the forum because it's invitation only?

White Paw, and geekboy has some good points,
White Paw suggested that we restrict regristration, but his suggestion to do it is like Okamiotoko said it's too much like elitism and i agree with him. That not right, and also Ashkin-Tyr said that it will also keep out some people that will actualy keep out people that would really would contribute to the forum.
But i agree with Geekboy's idea, not olny it would keep out the n00bs not only filtering out the n00bs through the SA but in a way that it will take some time to get approval for it. In which it would keep out the ten year olds with ADD and leave only the serious people. and if we could control people signing up it would aslo help keep out spammers that keep posting porn here.

Lets put it like this. Someone that we can trust from here can be the moderators and admin of the freeborn site, that way we would know that non of the moderators would post links that will send a whole wave of people here. If people want to join the pack, they will have to be werewolf lovers or furry love and find it for themeselves. And I serously suggest putting that posting and you video in the registrations. Make shure they dont do anything... oh I dont know like duplicating threads in our precouse forum.
Chances is are this place will be packed after the movie comes out. ofcourse alot of people usually dont stay for the credits so they are likley won't see "The Pack", but then theres the interviews and already the critics and paparazis knows AB had some helped from us.

Food for thought: You have an "online test" of some sort, fairly informal, and if they answer correctly (they type in their answers, send through email, etc.) they are invited to the forum.

by White Paw
yeah but even with the test ...any one who seen the movie could get in....doesnt actually weed out the serious fans from the ones who seen it once and thats it........
maybe with the test.....say if like...make it so that if they didnt pass it on the first time......then they have to wait a week or so before taking it again.....

Hm...I understand how you were thinking of it, but I was thinking of somehting completely different.
First off, the person would be typing in the answer, which would be able to help determine if the person knows how to spell, and weed out the non-stop leetspeak users. Call me anal, but I prefer to have an actual conversation outside of fast-pace games.
The rest, I can't remember.

what about a quick simple test that sees a person's posting habits, but i can't to be too long, like 5 or 6 questions. so people wont be discourage from joining.
Like we have a point and click test to see the poster's experience in forums, and stuff like that.
then have him/her write a short sa why they want to be apart of the forum. which will serve two perposes, see how they are on spelling and grammer, and also filter out the fans that are only want to join just for freeborn.

Excellent Idea, but wont that swamp the mods with applications? and who is going to make this test anyway? Could we have it so that you only get 3 chances on the quiz and THEN and only THEN you can write the mods, which will ease the pressure put on them

well,
i guess we get some of the veteran members or some volunteers to look through the applications. Besides it wont be much of a chore because not a whole lot of people sign up in a day. I guess one person would be enough

You realize things like this don't help? I've been in places that have tried it before, and they seem to get MORE trolls and LESS people who actually contribute.

How can you people want this, SW and Anubis, Iam ashamed you should know better THE PACK isn't an exclusive club for those priviged few, like those big buisnesses you hate Anubis. The pack should be welcome to all, not just those who "are worthy"
ANOTHER THING THAT BOTHERS ME IS THAT THE PEOPLE SUGGESTING THIS CHANGES ARE SOMEWHAT NEW!!!! You people that are new should know that the pack is open to all, if i just say, hmm i don't like you i think your not "entusiastic" enough, you can't come. How would that make you feel?
