Halloween & Werewolves

There has been something that has been chapping my a** more and more with each Halloween I go through every year. Whenever I see decorations and such during Halloween, I usually see your usual assortment of movie monsters and other typical spooks and freaks for Halloween. Vampires, Mummies, Frankenstein, Ghosts, Bats, except for one thing. Werewolves. Where are the f*** werewolves!? I want to see some more werewolf love during Halloween! Did werewolves suddenly stop becoming less terrifying or something? Were they fired from being an official Halloween monster mascot, and were sent home whimpering, with their tails tucked in between their legs ? I'd really like to know!

I've seen 'em but they're usually the goofy monkey-with-a-black-nose types.
There's a couple decent costumes out there, though. Check out TehDarkJokerWolfeh's thread.

Yeah, werewolves arent nearly as popular on Halloween as Dracula or even Frankenstein. Which is a shame really. I think werewolves can be much scarier then either one of those. But they seem to get looked over a lot. *sigh*

I think its because most people don't want to spend too much time or money on thier costumes and decorations.

Cheap Werewolf costumes and cheap werewolf decorations usually look like *&^*...so no one want's them.

Good ones are out there...but they are soo freakin' expensive that there just isn't a large market for them.

It's much easier to make a person or a lawn scarecrow look like a pretty decent looking vampire or a mummy or a witch with just a bit of makeup and fake fangs, or a roll of bandages, or a pointy hat...

...but making an even semi-decent werewolf is just more trouble than it is worth for most people.

At least...that seems the most likely reson to me.

Im making my own werewolf costume.

Okay so it's just a wolf head mask and a tail and some furry hands...but it's certainly WAY more than anybody where I live would have for a werewolf. The only accessories for werewolves we have is cool fake fur and makeup, and blood capsules. Nothing else. Grr. I was wondering the same thing as you myself.

We're decorating the house quite a bit this year. My wolf mask is VERY cool, Ill take a photo one day! It looks like a real wolf, but snarly of course with red eyes! Nice and hairy head and the snout and stuff is rubber or whatever, and well painted, with cool canine teeth, realistic and canine like.

Id like to make a werewolf decoration sometime. A really scary biped wolf with blood! Hehe!

If you keep clicking the masks on the side, there are some pretty wolf like masks there!! Mine still beats all of those! I got mine at a local show where they sell masks and show bags and have rides and stuff. Man that was a fun night...got pretty drunk and it was night time, with some big clouds with lightning rippling across the sky, bright lights and mostly still a starry night! Plus my very own WOLF mask! It now sits above my head on my bed. Ill take photos one day.

I've noticed this trend, too. I've seen a few more this year than in past years, but werewolves really are under-represented. Maybe it's because we're so much harder to do. Vampire--you just apply fangs and pasty makeup. Most Goths can do it in their sleep. Werewolves involve hours and hours of makeup, special effects teams, and post-production rendering.
