Would Werewolves Celebrate Christmas?...
...and/or New Years...or Chanukah? Just a thought. It ain't so much about religion as it is heritage or tradition. And what would they do?
Sure, I could have stayed, could have even been king. But in my own way...I am King. (grabs girl) Hail to the king, baby!

Yes.
If they did before they were bitten...they would continue to do so afterward. I can't see any reason why not.
I think that born werewolves would belong to all of the regular religions just like anyone else as well.
...and NewYears is more or less just an excuse to stay up late and party. If Werewolves like to party (who doesn't?) then HECK YEAH they are going to celebrate New Years.

Maybe I phrased that wrong. I meant would they celebrate it the mainly materialistic way we tend to do, like tryin to outdo the neighbors with their Christmas lights, goin berserk in the mall cause they ran out of the doll their kid needed, all National Lampoon Griswald style? I can understand the focus on family, eatin' and drinkin'. it's the other stuff I was curious about.Kanibal wrote:Of course a werewolf would celebrate christmas, they still have a side thats a normal person right? and if that person wanted to celebrate it he could. Not on a full moon night though, that would be unlucky

Very possibly they would. Every religion has some sort of mid-winter festival, carrying over from the old days when they weren't sure the Sun would return.
I suspect that Were's would have their own religion, as well as their former religious affinities.
And wouldn't they be a sight, going Caroling?

I may have missed something, being new and all.
But arent werewolves normal people by day? I've always had the idea that you found out you were a werewolf, so they could still lead mostly normal lives.
I'm all for the werewolve having their own christams though, with their pack, that would be cool.
Not sure they'ed get much from carroling though

Yeah! Unless you have a family who hasn't deserted you or knows your secret. That is unless again you bit them all...BlackWolfDS wrote:I think they would celebrate what Chistmas is all about. Giving and spending time with your pack.

We wish you a hairy Christmas...
YES!
I'm a Pagan, and I celebrate Christmas. (Then again, who do you think invented the thing?) Even after jumping religions a few times, it's just such a happy occasion, and so many others celebrate it, that it's going against a grain not to, and I'm not particularly motivated to give up a happy occasion.
But, werewolves might have other additional reasons to celebrate, if you're into rather obscure lore.
According to one legend, it's many of their birthdays; you get cursed with lycanthropy if you're evil and diabolical enough to happen to be born on the same day as Christ was, which He appearantly finds offensive. It's a screwy legend in many respects. First off, it's one of the few older legends that actually regards it as a curse--most don't, as that's a twentieth century construct for the most part. Second, it makes no sense what-so-ever for Christ to take offense by something controllable only by, according to the same theological system, himself and his dad. And, third, most legitimate biblical scholars will be quick to point out that Christ's Solstice birthday was a contrivance to assimilate Yule into Christianity; it's highly unlikely that his birth fell in late December.
But, even if your birthday is nowhere near Christmas, you can still be a werewolf with ties to the holiday. There's actually more links in old lore between lycanthropes and Christmas than with Halloween. There's the Neuri, Greek lore shapeshifters who spent twelve days in late December in the form of a wolf. (Five gold rings!) There's also a greater incidence of legendary accounts and sightings that happened in Winter.

I know the werewolves from Camp Lycanthrope celebrate by beating each other with christmas trees. The onle left standing gets to put up his/her tree
ouch... I can imagine what it feels like when you get hit by the tree's pine needles/cones.
Also getting tree sap in your fur. Talk about a sticky situation.
