Had turkey, stuffing, cranberries, and candied yams...again...tonight. My friend Shawnna had an orphan's Thanksgiving at her place tonight and her boyfriend invited his mother and four-year-old niece along because it was cold, her house doesn't have heat, and the kid's mother is in jail for DUI.

So this kid didn't have her head wrapped around the concept of "indoor voice" and had been up since 7AM this morning. 'Nuff said.

Anyway, what this is leading up to, was Shawnna and I excusing ourselves and fleeing to the nearest IHOP for Thanksgiving dessert. They're having a special on carrot cake, cheesecake and pumpkin pancakes so we got the former two with hot chocolate, and comiserated. The hopes was that niece would either be gone home or asleep by the time she got back. One can only hope...

Quizno's chicken carbonara with saffron rice.

As the economy downturns and the belt tightens, I've hit on a cost-saving strategy in regards to dinner. Cutting back on eating out to every other week, and the rest of the time I'm getting the Quizno's Monday deal (3 small subs for $10), plus four cans of soup.

Yeah, I know. Not the healthiest. But, it's only for a few months. And quite simply, Taco Bell and top ramen are not options, full stop.
